Looking at a 2018 John Deere 2025r

It's too bad the finance department denied your request. While the lawn mower replacement option may or may not have worked, it would be perfect for clearing the areas you have shown done with a string trimmer with a4ft rotary cutter. Depending on the amount of trails that you mow like that, I could see you saving hours and hours of work. At least an hour just in that one photo!

My wife and I discuss and debate all large purchases. Then go about and do what we want anyway. The last one was a new Beetle. She bought a used one (2013) against my "advice".

I've been driving it to work for the last two weeks... :)

OK, just got back with more worthless info. Has 100 hours on it, they bought it new and the dealer filled the tires when they got it. Comes with a 5ft back blade which they never used and the price is negotiable. Was stored indoors.
Get a bill of sale and ID (copy of driver license).

Third time posting this here---->>> We tried a zero turn on our yard and did not like it. Its 90% hillside and our current mower is 4wd.
We had a belly mower on our JD 755. It sits out back very close to the scrap pile and never gets used! 3 point finish mower is preferred by both me and husband. I simply would not waste money on an other belly mower and if he ever does he best get ready for the cast Iron frying pan over the left side of the noggin!😉

Might take the opportunity to make it disappear before he gets back!

OP,

What about a zero turn?

(Sorry, I just had to)

You made the classic mistake of asking permission...

It is always better to beg forgiveness, than to ask permission.

(I try not to do that anymore either, but....)

Deere offers so much "stuff" (accessories) for their tractors, do they not offer a "free floating kit" or something similar for someone with a belly mower and uneven ground? Some kind of different attachment system that will allow the mower to not only follow the ups and downs, but give it some ability to cant sideways for slopes? (serious question?)

I’m with you on the better to ask for forgiveness tract plus when I told my wife I was getting a new tractor she told me “over your dead body” from that I assume she plans to burie me under it, so faced with spending Eternity in it I chose to buy the the best I could get.

I got the impression that perhaps this purchase wasn't exactly what you wanted to cut your grass, but maybe was a compromise between your grass cutting needs and trail clearing. One thing about buying a tractor is there are both planned and unplanned additional costs involved. Perhaps you budgeted for a MMM, but then you find you really need another 4wd dedicated mower for your yard. Or maybe you buy a rotary cutter and discover that you really need a 16' tandem trailer to handle the weight and length of the entire setup. And then it's a 3/4 ton truck to tow it.

While this may have been an attractive purchase option looking at the tractor and the price, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best option for your own needs all things considered.

The only practical three point mower for this baby sized 2025r sized tractor is a 4ft one which was why I asked owners here about them. And I did get GREAT responses to that qestion. Nonetheless, this machine is to big for mowing our yard. Still love to have it for mowing trails and doing work on them in general, plus it fits with a mower perfectly well on our current trailer. What should I tell dearest the reasons we should get it??

It'll pay for itself with the loader within a few years.
