Thank you blackd for the advice. I am going to look into that since I plain to do some woods work with this tractor. Do you have a recommendation for a manufacturer or a place to buy one?
I picked up the case/ ih hy-tran from southeastern equipment last night. All reviews I read are high and the price was worth it to me. Last question on the trans... Is the screen filter something I just clean or do I replace it like the hydro filter?

you talking about the transmission suction filter?
if you have owers manual for gc2400 its page 54 first item
looks like this:

for skid plate call these guys tell them you have GC2400, they say they will make for older GC series. they have small vent holes for air flow (cooling as fan is right there) while the bro-tek ones do not.
I've been meaning to buy but every time I have money something around the house breaks...

edit:fixed missing ilink

Forgot to put link in for the sentinel plate
They said need to drill 3 holes in factory skid plate and provide instructions. 150$

I found this to be even more interesting: Broken hydraulic filter rescue kit. I wish I had seen this before asking to get the tractor repaired.

That is why I put on the skid plate as soon as I read about it here, tractor was not even a month old. I did do it because of reading an thread about the hydro fan replacement, something that I want to avoid at any cost. Rather prevent it ahead of time.

At idle, by tractor has a lot of vibration. Is this normal for these machines? Is there something I can fix to lesson this issue?

Yep, seems to be normal. I generally don't run mine at less that 1500 RPM, which is a bit more than idle. Reduces the vibration significantly.

wait until you start in -20f weather...first few strokes around 500rpm...oh yeah she vibrates.
mines (2010 GC2400 with 375 hrs on it) not too bad when warmed up (comparable to the 2015 GC1710 I got few hundred hours on, the 2020 GC1723TLB I got 20 or so hours on, and the 2021 GC1725M TLB I got about 10 hours on so far) and sitting at idle around 1050 rpm, most vibration there from dl100 loader pins. lift up a touch it goes away.

At least I know its not abnormal.
Not sure where you live but will say this. If in cold climate a battery tender your best friend if you want to use tractor in winter.
Seriously... Anything from 5f to -10f I plug block heater in for 20 minutes before even turning key.
When it's -20f I run it 45 minutes before turning key.
Last time it hit -22f with wind chill of -40 was not too long ago.
45 minutes block heater 5 30 second cycles of glow plugs throttle at 1/2 and turned key and running after 10 seconds.
And yeah she shook and rattled and smoked a lot for 30 seconds
But...wo the battery tender it would not have cycled glow plugs thru 5 cycles and then turned engine over fast enough to actually fire.

As opt now, the plan is to keep it in the shop which never seems to fall bellow 35 unless its really cold out. Here, really cold is below freezing. I do plan on putting a tender on it even in the shop after mowing season. It may not be used as often then so I want to keep the battery up.

I've had good luck for years with these

NOCO GENIUS2D, 2-Amp Direct-Mount Onboard Charger, 12V Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer, Trickle Charger, and Battery Desulfator with Temperature Compensation

Is there a fill level for the front drive train or do I just fill it until it can't hold anymore?

You have to look in with a light. You need to cover the gear and shaft 50%, bottom half.

Is too much a problem. I know it calls for 4 liters and I have around 3 in it right now. I know I drained both sides and drained it well. The gears look fully submerged. Will the fluid fill in crevasses when I drive it?

You need to leave the top plugs out. It can take a while for the fluid to flow over to the right side and all the air to bubble out. If you put in the amount it is supposed to hold just wait and be patient for it to settle.

I will do that tonight. Thanks you.
Also... I changed the rest of hydraulic fluid and filter and it is strange to think that the tractor runs better? It seems more responsive and seems to move faster. I'm I just making this or or is it a real possibility?

So interesting to see someone in the exact spot I was in just 3 years ago. What fluids? from where? how much? when? (after first 50 h then every 100-250 hrs depending on filter/fluid.) Hopefully you got the owner's manual with the machine. It covers most basic things pretty well

And you did the right thing signing up here. A few of the posts here put it in clear terms: Good hydro fluid - likely Kubota - yes 11L - I used gear oil in the front end. Light synthetic engine oil for easier starts. Keep an eye on the fuel filter. Mine ran much smoother once it was getting all the fuel it wanted. And you can get oil/fuel/air filters pretty easily (NAPA..) but the hydro filter is a dealer item. I just did the coolant after a conductivity/specific gravity test showed the coolant could resist heat and cold but was about to encourage corrosion.

My used unit was running discount fluids and too-old filters when I got it. After a full round of maintenance, my 2410 runs like a top. It better, it has a lot of work to do and needs to last a long time.
