I notice you dont publish your location. Your name is very discreet, has nothing to do with your occupation, hobbies, etc.
Is that because youre afraid someone might be able to find you elsewhere with research?
I dont know.
I will let you know. I am a yank. Sree is a name I took from of a 10 year-old urchin who insisted on showing me around for 100 rupees when I visited Chennai for spiritual reasons after early retirement some ten years ago. I live alone, no family. I can't get further into why I have no location because I am into nothingness and this is a tractor site for heaven's sake. You get the drift, Dude?

The drift I get is youre a coward quaking in his boots. None of your description tells me anything personal that can be exploited. At least thats smart.
Post your address. Youll feel vulnerable in a few days. Lol

Personal information that you furnished yourself in this forum is not private. Why would you object to someone posting what you had published in public in the first place?
They are not talking about the information they furnished.

You've been here 5 weeks.

They're talking about having decades-long conversations (I've been here 20+ years, Hay Dude 10 years, ovrszd 16 years, for example) between possibly hundreds of other TBN members that have been here just as long. In those thousands of conversations, you occasionally mention, for example, the town you live in, the school you went to, the name of your spouse or child, the sex of your spouse or child, where they went to school, what you do for a living, etc...

Then you get someone that for whatever reason, decides they have an axe to grind. They start by taking shots at each other on the discussions. Then it turns into seeing which one can take the most, meanest, most demeaning shots. They never let it go, and they just keep taking shots at each other, over and over again. Then they start posting personal information that they've either gleaned from years of conversation, or, super creepy, going and looking up the other person's personal info based on years of comment. Then they post that.

So we're not talking about things we've talked about over the years. We're talking about people taking those things and turning them into threats and insults. That crosses a line that shouldn't be allowed.

I had someone find me just by a picture I posted of a farm in my area and an intersection In my general area. Now my name and address was outed. They just did a little internet research.
See what I mean?

Now everytime I post pictures, I have to put a black mark over truck & equipment insignia. I wouldnt have to do it if it weren’t for losers like that.

This ain’t the only thing that I have seen happen. Not to me, but to others.
I would never do that, but then again, I can generally stop the escalation at a little friendly sarcasm or good natured ribbing.
Theres a few loose cannons out there who cant.
Yep. I've had, over the years, had people PM me that I might want to blur out something in a picture that I've posted because it shows an address, mailbox, license plate number, etc... I appreciated that and have since then, done the same for members that may have not realized they posted such info.

Yes, TBN is amazing broad for a "tractor" forum. But the threads are very specialized and focussed on specific matters of interest. Reading those posts is, to me, like observing very involved discussions by learned academics of a university. I don't see how a nutjob can destabilize a discussion on the finer points of a Mahindra tractor compared to a John Deere.
🤣

Stick around.

People need to vent. A sub-forum allowing this without moderation would keep "attack dogs" in one place.
Unfortunately, it's just a fact of human nature, that if you insult someone in the grocery store, they're going to remember that when they see you in the tractor store.

It overflows into the general community.

I have nothing to fear, is what you meant. But I am a coward and was called out in the Gun thread. I can't even force myself to shoot a squirrel let alone a home invader even in self-defense. As such, I am deemed unfit for rural living.
