NM primarily produces on federal and state lands, with most acreage on federal lands. Oil companies have about a decade of undrilled federal leases so this short pause in leasing is a non-issue. The pause is to make sure that Americans get fair value for federal oil leases. The lease rates for federal lands haven’t changed since the 1920s, while the prices charged by state and private are much higher. Much of the reason why the oil rigs farther north are shut down is they are more costly to produce and less productive than the Permian basin in TX and NM. Many of the SD and WY oil companies have moved people to the Permian basin where oil production is more profitable.

There is a federal moratorium for drilling and extracting on federal lands...how is NM able to extract while other places are not?

There is a moratorium on issuing new leases. As I said previously, most oil companies have at least a decade of previously issued leases that have not yet been drilled. It’s the same on all federal lands. That’s why I said that a short term moratorium has no effect.

I don't much care if it goes to 4 bucks or 5 bucks a gallon, I just roll the cost into what I sell my product for. Over in Europe they pay a lot more than we do and have for years.

For sure the gas in EU is higher than here but
they get better miles per gallon also!
My Italian friend was getting about 75 to 80
miles per gallon 600 FIAT I am only guessing
as from Naples to Rome is 150 miles and we
drove around Rome for 3 days and back to Naples
and he drove for 3 more days before he needed gas!
The best performing Mercedes Benz in 2005 is the A-Class (W168) Hatchback A160 CDI (2005) Diesel 1689cc engine, which averages 62.8 MPG. IF they would take off all the pollution crap we would get better mileage burn less fuel and the fumes would not be as deadly and many homes would have not burned down without the pollution
crap which sure caused a lot of destruction

Hey Willy, are these "miles" or "kilometers" per gallon? 😂

Being that the site that Willy posted is UK based, I suspect those numbers are also based on UK MPG. In US MPG that comes around 52 MPG, which for a 2005 is still really good.

My sister's 2015 Renault Clio with a 1.5L 90hp turbodiesel engine does indeed 62 US MPG easily. There are some cars that can do ever better than that.

Least 24 hours diesel went up 7 cents gallon here...$3.64 gallon OTR.

MILES! Our Rabbit diesel only got 53 miles
per gallon. My 03 Dodge 2500 diesel driving
55 will get me between 25 to 30 miles per gallon.
Can't see buying a new pickup and have to add
DEF and get 14 to 16 miles per gallon! My old
73 Dodge 318 4 speed 4:11 rear gears 18 miles
per gallon running 75 to 80 miles per hour. I can't
understand why put all the pollution crap on a
vehicle which makes the vehicle burn more gas and
puts out twice as deadly fumes without the crap.
It costs the taxpayer a lot of money for the crap and
the added expense of burning more gas!
