…There was a BBC "Top Gear" episode years ago where they wanted to determine the worst car. They said it's easy to pick on many cheap cars...but they're inexpensive.
Their pick? Lexus! That's right, and they're reasoning was they're expensive and just not that great. When I mention that to Lexus owner friends they're furious.…

Having owned a Lexus and a Toyota I’d agree they’re terribly overrated. Toyotas used to be great but the newer ones aren’t even as good as a Kia IMO, although Kia makes pretty good stuff. My last Toyota was probably the worst, most boring modern car I’ve ever owned. Lord I hated that car. I think what helped Lexus at the time was you could get German car refinement that wasn’t also a total maintenance nightmare. Nowadays most cars are equally good so really there’s no point in paying more for the Lexus vs something like even a Honda Accord that’s better at half the price.

Here in Europe Lexus has never been able to sell much, the problem starts whit the name, Lexus sounds fake and has no history what so ever, sounds like a word game based on the word luxus, a horrible bad name to use. And the conservatism dont sell well, customers wants the latest and greatest even if that has a big potential for technical challenges.

In some Lexuses you find interior details that screams cheap Toyota.
