Then on to Fusion, though I'll probably never see it be feasible, in my life time.
I don't know how old you are, but I wouldn't put money on that...
I expect Fusion power to be practical within 10 years, widespread within 30-50 years

I'm thinking right now most people buy things not for function buy to impress. I wear tennis shoes, $35 or less comfortable ones that last not the latest $150+ Nike just because they have the "swoosh" emblem.
Cars & trucks are amazing like that. There was a BBC "Top Gear" episode years ago where they wanted to determine the worst car. They said it's easy to pick on many cheap cars...but they're inexpensive.
Their pick? Lexus! That's right, and they're reasoning was they're expensive and just not that great. When I mention that to Lexus owner friends they're furious.
People should buy what they can afford, what's practical.
Our neighbors bought a new Ford truck...$100,000! Electric tailgate, operate it from your cell phone...I've never seen so many bells and whistles. Do they use it as a truck, take trash to the dump, etc.? No.

Tesla Wall Connector is good for 17.28 kW.

The current Tesla Mobile Connector which comes with the car is 240V 32A for 7.68 kW. First generation was 40A for 9.6 kW. The biggest electrical plug, NEMA 14-50, is only rated for a 50A circuit. A 50A circuit can only source 80% or 40A continuously.

Wall Connector is compatible with Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y and is capable of providing up to 44 miles of range per hour of charge, with up to 11.5 kW / 48 amp output, depending on model.

60A * 80% = 48A = 11.5KW @ 240V 1-phase

Hardwire or NEMA 14-60R


The mobile connector in the trunk of the car is good for 7.6kW @ 240V 1-phase


The 17.28kw is on a 3-phase wall connector, I believe

New superchargers with 250kw peaks are pretty insane, that is a lot of power transfer.

I have said time and time again, “The gas station model does not apply to EVs. But politicians and other ignorant persons keep pretending an EV charge station is needed on every street corner for EVs to be ‘viable’.”

There is no need for a gas station when every morning your EV can roll out the driveway with a charge sufficient for a day of commuting. This is also the cheapest electric power you can get.
Except for people who only have on street parking, parking in a lot/parking garage, etc or otherwise do not have a dedicated place to park where they can get power to it.
