My 8 year old Tesla Model 3 had 265 mile range new. Last time I tried it charged to 252 miles.

OTOH it is on its 3rd 12v battery.

Yes, all those horror stories that certainly would happen to EVs have not come true, we had one case here last week when a newly bought model S had a complete battery failure, it was a used 2013 with unknown service history. But that's the only that have made it into the media. Might be something fishy about the story, we will se if something comes up.

I don't give a who subsidizes EV charging stations. I pay for a lot of subsidies I don't see a return on; about time I get mine...

I have said time and time again, “The gas station model does not apply to EVs. But politicians and other ignorant persons keep pretending an EV charge station is needed on every street corner for EVs to be ‘viable’.”

There is no need for a gas station when every morning your EV can roll out the driveway with a charge sufficient for a day of commuting. This is also the cheapest electric power you can get.

The one need for charging stations is for travel to distant cities. This is what Tesla is doing with Superchargers placed every 100-140 miles on major routes. Superchargers let me drive to Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, north Indiana, Dayton OH, Mobile. Otherwise there has never been a need to charge anywhere but at home.

OMG! No one has ever heard of an ICE having mechanical failures in only 8 years!

My late 2013 VIN is under 26,000, which in the life of a motor vehicle company is a very early model.

The Model S battery has 16 or more independent modules, each with its own controller. Experimenters have built 2 good battery packs out of 3 bad. No telling what Tesla does with replaced battery assemblies but I doubt they send any out with used cells.

It's very popular to buy used premium German luxury cars, and that can be a very costly ownership, but that's "normal" so nobody cares.

When it comes to Tesla the most complaints have been on service and parts, now that has been corrected, don't think Tesla was abel to handle the growth in sales when it really took of here in Norway. And they still have issues with fit and finish, many customers came from the big three German brands and of course that was hard to compete with, Tesla have become better on finish but stil have a way to go to perfection, not sure if Tesla sees them selves as a premium brand in the way the big three Germans does.

Are you starting to realize how we are harming our kids chances of financial success by driving the cost of petroleum based life giving products out of their financial reach?

EVs have nothing to do with Saving the Planet. EVs are just one stab at saving the kids financial futures. Without access to cheap petroleum based fertilizer, medicine, roads, tires, etc our kids futures are compromised.

It's highly unlikely that oil will be that expensive, producing oil in the middel east is dirt cheap and if we reduses demand why should prices go up?

The only plan in place is to increase the use of petroleum not reduce it.
