I have a 2012 John Deere 2730 cab model with a/c and heat. Intermittently the a/c or heat and fan refuse to come on or it comes on after several minutes of usage. I'm thinking a problem with the ground? I also notice that my front wiper fails at the same time as the HVAC system. Anyone else ever run into this problem?

Welcome to TBN
My guess is your tractor has a faulty cab accessory relay

Thanks, I will try ordering one from the dealer.

Don't know if you have access to the shop manual for your tractor. But one thing I would be looking for is a block connector somewhere along that wiring harness that has those specific circuits running through it. Check those connections there. Look for loose, or corroded or wet contacts.

I seriously doubt it's a "relay" issue. Usually when a relay goes, it's permanent. Not an intermittent issue. I would not just start shotgunning parts all willy-nilly. Sounds to me like a circuit contact problem.

On some of the IH's an intermediate ground issue will drop out some relays, a restart and they may hold for 10 minutes or 10 hours

I have seen weak relays that will drop intermittently before failing completely.

Since it comes on after a bit I'd suggest the fan bearings ,probably bushings*, are the issue.
If bushings oiling them will be the cure, with bearings--replace them.

* WD40 would free up a bushing but you will still want to oil the bronze bushings.

How do you explain the wiper in your scenario?
Yes, these fixes don't fit the symptoms.

I would start checking wiring harnesses coming in and out of the cab first.

But some folks fix things by "shotgunning" parts and some folks fix things by looking for the culprit based on the symptoms.

"Shotgunning" will eventually fix the problem. Sooner or later you will stumble over the actual problem, in your quest to replace your tractor, one part at a time.

All the electrical problems I've ever had in my tractor came from mice.
