19 degrees here today. Yay! Well, boo! It's supposed to be 50 and rain by this weekend, back into 30s-40 for a few, and 50's again next week. Middle of December. Ice fishing forecast is bleak.

I stand corrected (by my wife!) it was the Northland Cafe. Nothing fancy just great food.

I think that was the restaurant that was next to the bar and I think it closed in the 80's. It's torn down now.

Three below now and 10-12 inches on the ground. Have to do some snow blowing before the mail lady comes. Really windy yesterday.

I looked at the bridge cam on Michigan Tech last night, and at times you couldn't see the bridge.

Went to Houghton yesterday. On the way there the last 15 miles was pretty crappy. On the way home visibility sucked for the first 30 miles.

I had checked the weather in the morning and there wasn't anything about snow. They lied.

NOAA said we'd get 1 to 3 overnight but a NW wind must have added lake snow in and we got 6". It was wet and hard to work with. Pics from this am. These might give you an idea, what us trail workers see, on many days.

I was paid a minim wage doing it for years but what you seen here, is volenteer. This is all our personal machines as well.

Yes, you kind of have to have heated grips and throttle. I'm not at all tough! I should have had my windshield on today! On the Can-am machines you can get a heated seat as well but we'll not get that. In case some of you didn't catch the post, we ordered a Outlander max 6x6 a few weeks ago. This is it.

Hey ArlyA , care to comment on your experiences up there with trekking poles in the extreme ? Aluminum or Carbon fiber ? Favorite brand ?

Ski poles and trekking/hiking poles are a tad different. Most of our ski poles are Swix and the hiking poles are in general the Komperdell brand. But we do have lots and lots of poles here! We have carbon ski poles which are lighter but not everyday use things, they tend to break where as aluminum ones you can bend but you can bend them back and still use them. Down side to aluminum is they are a bit heavier.

After 4 days of warm weather it flipped to cool and breezy yesterday.

Who can identify this building? I'm parked at Peterson fish market getting something to grill.

Driving home while still in Hancock MI.

Now up a street to our home in Houghton. This street is steep, might be 12 percent.
