Roy since it is a rescue dog I'd get a DNA test done, It really helped us figure out the all the breeds in Whipper and why she had certain breed quirks. Margeaux = Marh Go
According to the rescue agency, she's a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix...that's probably why her coat is a bit shaggy
Both breeds are laid back dogs for the most part...
There's a good chance we'll get another rescue if Margeaux works out OK. Dogs are very social, and better off with another dog in the family.
We have two cats (stepdaughter's, actually)...we'll see how they get along

Drew, take a road trip and check out the other brands.... at least you'll be out and about....
That's a good idea...
I knew I was going to buy used, and Kioti was the first brand I looked at. Almost bought one too, untill I checked the serial number (tractor was advertised as a 2011 for $12K...was actually a 2001. Liked the machine but wasn't willing to pay $12K for a 2001)

68°F and .52 inches rain.
Yesterday less productive than planned, back won out after a few hours. An hour in the hot tub seemed to help. Give it another shot this morning.

H&F this afternoon.

Update on my friends bent PTO shaft. Gave up after tentative try with the 20 ton press. John was concerned about making a flat spot. He took it to a local machine shop snd they said they couldn’t straightened without crushing it. But sent him down the street to and another shop that was able to order replacement shaft for $75.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Dogs are very social, and better off with another dog in the family.
Since Whipper spent the first 7 years keeping coyotes away from the house and she has never been social toward other dogs. She cannot go to the dog park and she snaps at passing dogs on the street and trails. She used to roll the cat but has grown out of that.
You may want to introduce Marh-go to other dogs to see if she tolerates them.

Whipper looks like some sort of German Shorthaired Pointer/Greyhound. Whippers ancestry from the DNA test is as follows:
Cocker Spaniel 20-36%
Bichon Frise 10-19%
German Shorthaired Pointer 10-19%
Greyhound 10-19%
Poodle 10-19%
Great Dane 10%

78F and partly cloudy @ 12:30, headed up to a high of 82F. It appears rain is all to the south and east, chances for precipitation today are only 15%, with low chances of rain through Monday with highs in the mid to upper 80's.

Refilled hopper, one nyjer, and two sunflower tube feeders yesterday, also two suet cake feeders.

Also finished coring down around house.

Doesn't appear to be any standing water on lawn, but I'd have to guess the soil is still pretty moist from the looks of it. Upper front due to be mowed, but I'll give it until late today at least to dry out further, if not until tomorrow.

On agenda for the day, not necessarily in any kind of order:

Move some more dirt from pile over to trail in woods and spread it out with box blade.

Check creek crossing area to see how wet it is, possibly do some more work there ... but I suspect it is too wet ... :(

Same for any work over around the barn.

Maybe some more compost screening.

Unload pallet of retaining wall block and 55 gallon aquarium from van.

Spray remainder of weed killer in sprayer, then mix up another batch.

Maybe do some further trimming and clean up on the circle where the forsythia will be removed (raking out leaves, trimmings, and debris)

Have lots of hosta sets but no real good place to plant them ... yet ... :giggle:

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Nope...never add any color, just a 4:1 water to sugar ratio...

Same.

we had problems with bears, too, and had to bring the feeders in every night when the bears were hanging around. Haven't had bears in over 2 months, so evenings and mornings are easier now.

(y)

We clean them and refill everyday...currently running 16 feeders.

That's impressive ... what's even more impressive is that you have enough hummers to put out that many feeders ...

Around here, I don't think I've ever seen more than two at any given time.

Of course, we really don't have all that many flowers to attract them (something I hope to change) and we only put out one feeder.
