Roy hope Margeaux slept well in her new home.

finished my spreadsheeting on tractors and still left without answers, since both tractors came in within 300 dollars of each other. It's the implements that are crazy priced now, with big steel surcharges and of course delays in getting things.
How long were some of you quoted on a wait for an EA Wicked Grapple?
It is likely that Kubota will win out due to standard SSQA and zero percent financing but still it's interesting that the price
advantage of Kubota now seems to have disappeared vs JD. Sure wish I had an LS or Massey dealer nearby. Might hunt around a little further out if prices remain shall we say unappetizing.
Margeaux isn't here yet...like many rescue animals, they're brought up from high kill shelters in the southern states. The person bringing the pup north and I will meet just south of Sharon VT on the 28th of August.
This actually makes me a bit apprehensive, because I won't really know the pup's personality and quirks until then. We just have to hope the adoption service's description is accurate.
One reason we selected Margeaux is the bad paw (birth defect). Figured most folks wouldn't consider a dog with that condition...and, she looks too sweet to be put down at less than a year old.
One thing we haven't figured out is how does one pronounce "Margeaux"? Hahahahha!!

As far as the tractor search...consider going with a used, low hour machine? My 4052R is a 2015 model, had 330 hours (give or take) and the sale price was $35K. 330 hours, it's practically a new machine

daugen said, "woke up to thunder and rain around 2am and a nice soaker went through, 1.7 inches last night."

Sure sounds familiar. I got a total of about 1.27" yesterday, and then it started raining here again about 5:15 a.m. this morning. Sure some loud thunder a minute ago. The yard needs to be mowed, but the rain gives me a good excuse to not do it today.:D

ronjhall asked, "Bird, sounds like you had a good crew putting up your rain gutters. Do you know what they used to attach them to house."

Ron, I'll have to plead ignorance. I don't know how many ways there are to attach them. I saw the stuff they used, and I know I saw something in their material about NOT having to go inside and I didn't know anything about that.

woke up to thunder ………

It is likely that Kubota will win out due to standard SSQA.

I thought you were going to say that you sat and wondered how far off next.

I was quoted a 14 week wait from EA, not having an SSQA would be a deal breaker for me, but you can get an adapter for the JD. the downside of that it’s that it moves the load farther out, and adds weight, both of which ultimately reduce capacity. There are far more used SSQA attachments around than JD ones. Also easier to rent or borrow.

Roy, am confident you and Margeaux will get along fine. You could also knickname her Pearl
In French Baby Names the meaning of the name Margeaux is: Pearl.

Just went out and picked up blown over flower pot. I really need to screw that thing into the stump below it.
And then bent over about twenty times picking up storm leaf litter, branch ends. Good stretching exercise.
there's enough water in the retention ditch I might see a duck fly in today.
Had a pair floating around after last large storm, but last night wasn't severe.

1.7 inches rain at 4 inches penetration per inch means almost 7 inches of watering.
That sure takes care of everything but my one large evergreen but that was heavy watered last week.
Even the tomatoes look greener and I kept them wall watered. Usually heavy rains are a menace to tomatoes if
they are prone to cracking

7 shades of green out there

Thanks Paul. I'm in no rush, considering this for next Spring, so times work.

Good Morning.
It’s 72 out and supposed to climb to 80 with clearing skies and no more than a 15% chance of rain. The storm that woke up Drew rolled by here about 12:45, with a high rain rate of 7-1/2 inches per hour. We got a total of just under an inch out of it, so it moved quickly. Combined with yesterday’s rain we got a total of 1-1/2 inches.

Didn’t do anything outside yesterday but made good progress in the shop, finished up another speaker, got one glued up, and another ready to glue up.

Made two trips to Home Depot, one to get the stuff I needed, the second to exchange a mislabeled toilet seat to get the correct one.

Today will be another shop day, neighbor wants 25 tons of stone moved from the pile in his driveway to area behind his house where new shed is going. That’s a lot of tractor trips, will really make a mess of his lawn after all that rain. Hopefully he will wait. It would be best to use a dump trailer, and cut down on the trips.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 4:45AM. Partly cloudy skies. High around 95F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Still under a Red Flag Warning, still no grid power, still bad air. Power was supposed to be back on at 4PM yesterday, then it was 8 PM, now who knows, as PG&E is silent on the subject. Lack of communication was one of the big sore points from last year's PSPS events, and it doesn't seem to me they've improved at all. But they're still burning down entire towns, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

Ordered the Wicked Grapple at the end of April '20, Drew, and picked it up at the freight terminal second week in June. EA is out considerably longer these days, but they're also building a huge new shop to bring down the wait time. The grapple, box blade, and tooth bar I have from them are well crafted and monster strong, and I don't regret the wait or cost one bit. The Kubota's hydrostatic transmission was a lot nicer than the green or blue tractor I test drove. I'm a one foot pedal kinda guy I guess.

Refined white sugar is the stuff for nectar, Ron. Anything else isn't good for the birds. Feeding them honey leads to fungus infections on their tongues, and it kills them. Try disconnecting the Mustang's battery for a few minutes to see if it'll reset the code. Hope you get your ride!

I try to stick with the farmed fish like steelhead and salmon, Don. Yes, they say it can have environmental impact, but near as I can tell, there's no heavy metal problem and it tastes great!

Public schools and local colleges opened for in person learning this week. The same age range for the highest rate of CV19 infection. Bound to be more mask requirements in the stores, so I'll be keeping those masks handy.

Supposed to help a neighbor round up the steel for the grizzly bars today. Hope that comes to pass, as he's not exactly reliable.

The other day I came into the kitchen from the garage and there was a fairly large aligator lizard on the floor in front of me. All I had on were my running shoes, so it took several stomps before it stopped squirming. But at least it didn't disappear underneath the 'fridge or stove. Tossed the carcass out back onto the gravel, and it was gone a couple hours later. Gotta keep the buzzards happy!

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good morning! 79˚F mostly sunny, heading to the mid 90s. We had a brief scattered shower yesterday of .12" but was able to mow the yard a little while afterwards. Today I finally feel no neck pain - it took two days to appear and another 5 days to dwindle down. I missed the Cedercide day yesterday but - it's August so it would not have been too pleasant.

Roy since it is a rescue dog I'd get a DNA test done, It really helped us figure out the all the breeds in Whipper and why she had certain breed quirks. Margeaux = Marh Go

Drew, having the Kubota and JD I'd go with the Kubota. You might have to do a test drive. The single HST petal is much better IMO.

I need to pick beans today and maybe okra. The tomatoes plants look good with green leaves for the middle of this cool August, but still too warm to produce. I will also have to squeeze in some seat time during garden time.

I was able to attend cards Monday after a dose of Advil and won 4 of 5 games in hand and foot. That should bring me up from a lousy 8th place.

Covid cases still have not started their downward trend and we are hovering between 300-500 new cases a day. So much for their mid August peak. The next predicted date was early September. One of my NO-vax friends is still pretty sick (going on 10 days now) unlike our vaccinated Governor who has no symptoms and he got the antibodies treatment yesterday. The friend got the infused antibody treatment yesterday also. It is revealing how when you are really sick a provisional FDA treatment is acceptable to treat but not acceptable to prevent. We should find out today's if it is helping since it takes effect in the body after 24 hours. Randall's Grocery store is now offering the third shot of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna. I'm not due for that jab until the end of September.

Morning all, still recovering from allergic reaction. Need to schedule Dr, appt.
See If I feel good enough for a 6 hour round trip drive to my old neighbors funeral on Sunday/Monday.
Drew - Massey dealer I went to in NJ Belle Mead garage- don't know much about their bigger tractors.

stay safe and be well.

66°F and foggy again this morning, going up to 88° today. We're back to the typical August days here, HH&H. Mid-90s next week.

When The Wife gave me the new record crate last weekend, she also put in it something I didn't know she had. It's a 10-record (vinyl) box set released in 1965 by Reader's Digest called "The Great Band Era." It's all big band music from 1936-1945. The sound quality is outstanding, and they all look like they're brand new. Apparently, her grandmother bought it, but never listened to it. So, I pulled out volume 1 last night and listened to it while cooking dinner. Good stuff.

Good morning to all! Low of 58, going up to the mid 80's. All the chances of rain have vanished until maybe Sunday. Drip irrigation system will get a workout today.

Today we celebrate our 38th anniversary.... we aren't planning any specific thing to do, just spend the day together and play it by ear....

Got about 2 1/2 hours of seat time yesterday.... I moved the big dirt pile further out towards the field. My guestimate is about 20 yards. At least it's out of the way of the planned RV pad. I'll probably get the stone for the area next week. Then it's GRAVEL TIME! :giggle:

Tomorrow, gonna make a run into town and pick up 50 PT landscape timbers for the courtyard project. We measured out and marked the placement for them yesterday. I'm sure we will make some adjustments to the plan once we start placing them.

RNG, I hope you are able to generate enough power unit the grid comes back on. Hopefully the smoke will clear out.

Roy, congrats on the new fuzzy butt addition to the family.

Ken, sorry about the loss of your friend.

Drew, take a road trip and check out the other brands.... at least you'll be out and about....

Everyone have a great day!
