Just came back from Denver. They don’t call it the “Mile High City” for no reason. Lol
Weed smell everywhere. CA is bad, but so is CO.
Many years ago, my wife and I, while on vacation down the coast, stopped in Garberville CA. Immediately when getting out of the car we wondered what the smell was. Later we researched it. Pot capital of CA.

Maybe you just hit a skunk 🦨:)

Why would you buy a truck and NOT get the towing package (if you are planning to tow)? Built in brake controller and additional transmission cooling capacity will do wonders to increase transmission lifespan.

Aaron Z
I didn’t say that we towed with them. Driving down an unplowed road in winter tends to raise the fluid levels rather quickly

Pigs and chickens have to be housed in spacious apartments or they can't be sold in California. Don't blame politicians for that one, the voters got together and passed an initiative. They are projecting a shortage of bacon, and substantial price rises for both pork and chicken products. Forge some paperwork, load a refrigerator truck in Vegas, and head for LA.

Ever have the privilege of eating “free range chicken or eggs” or “home cured“ lean grain fed bacon? The taste is different. Makes one think of today’s commercial market farm in terms of cardboard!

Maybe the voters are so stoned they were feeling silly and voted for the rights of chickens to have spacious apartments?

There was a chicken barn near here several years ago that burnt. This barn contained thousands of "free range chickens". I found it odd that "free range chickens" were locked in a barn. I guess free range is defined differently than I thought.

I doubt if all Californians can afford to pay for organic foods that cost twice as much. I think it would be reasonable for them to have the freedom to choose what they eat.

The referendum was passed by 80% of the voters. I doubt that it will double the cost, and to be certified organic requires jumping through more hoops than just pen size.
I’m still not sure how this is related to electric cars though. Did Miss Piggy and Kermit elope to California? :D

It looks like a Subaru Brat. I just don't see the practicality of a 4 door pickup. Obviously I'm in a minority, because that's what the manufacturers are selling.
It depends on the purpose. I'm considering a Ford Maverick next year. For 20K it gets 40 mpg, has room to keep my gear undercover, and enough space in the bed for trash, chain saws and gas, wet dog... anything that I don't want in the cab with me. Then my more expensive 4x4 Colorado can sit in the garage for when I want to go off road or pull a bigger trailer to move my Kubota, or I can upgrade it to a 3/4 ton.

I'm with you. I want one that only has 2 doors, but has the 'extended cab' size for things I want out of the elements. I don't need more than 1 passenger (2 in an emergency).
The manufacturers are selling them because they figured out that wealthy city guys would try to buy their manhood by getting a pickup that they would never actually use off-road. Those guys wanted luxury amenities and the ability to haul their golf buddies, clients, what-have-you. The inconvenience of a 12" bed (maybe I exaggerate) is meaningless because those guys are using them as a pickup anyway. Since those guys have more disposable cash than brains, they have driven the market for a work vehicle into the price ranges of luxury sedans. The only way it stops is for the 'bros' in the city to become disenchanted with pickups and turn they dollars toward the next 'thing'...maybe it will be EVs?
Note: if you actually use your truck and want some luxury, that is fine. The volume of people in who actually use a truck as intended is small enough that the prices would not have skyrocketed.

My trucks are regular cabs but I like the dry space in my excursion. There’s not enough room to put my dog and even a few tools in a regular cab truck.

Duh. What are you? Maybe a half hour from Smithfield NC? The pork capitol of the world. PS; don't tell Hay dude Smithfield is owned by the Chinese.
I already knew Solitary man, my China worshipping friend :)

The trend seems to be for the old OEMs is to not come out with new EVS but to electrify their old ICE lines. I expect it will take Tesla 2022-2023 to get the Cybertruck hitting on all cylinders. After two years of negative Cybertruck news cycles then Sadie will bar the door on the F-150 Lighting sales.
