Good morning!!!!

Happy birthday.
I’d rather have pie than cake also. We had a blackberry one this weekend.
I like both! Both full of calories and sugar.

60°F and clear-ish skies this morning, going up to 81° today.

Father-in-law had a fall in his house yesterday. His stepdaughter happened to stop by and found him. Took him to the hospital, where they determined he'd had another stroke. They had to transfer him to a St. Louis hospital, as they said they didn't have a stroke specialist on staff. Wife is understandably upset, as no one called her until late last night. A previous stroke about 10 years ago left him with some limited facial muscle movements which slightly affected his speech. Hoping for nothing major from this one.

Garage creep is a universal fight, Paul. We always park both cars in the garage. When we had them out over the weekend to build the new trailer, I started to get worried that we might not get them back in again. 😟
Hope your FIL gets better.
Morning all, back from trip to Key West.
Cloudy here, but got some trimming and other work done outside yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday was my birthday- went to a nice Sushi place in Doylestown.

Still catching up on posts, but need to go back to day job.

Stay safe and be well.

Happy Belated birthday Ken!
Good morning all.

Last night we had just sat down after tea to enjoy a cup of coffee when I noticed sheep at the top of the shed field. Not an unusual sight, except I had shut them out earlier to do some spraying.
Jumped in car to drive up and see what was going on. What the *!@K

That's the last time I let sheep watch the Olympic weightlifting. :giggle:
I guess when you dream about sheep jumping over a fence, it actually is a nightmare.

It's official: Lake Oroville broke the all time record low water level last night at midnight. The previous record was 645', as of right now, it's sitting at 643 and getting even lower by the minute. The intakes for the Hyatt Power House are only a few feet from coming fully out of the water, shutting down one of the state's biggest hydroelectric plants, right in the middle of one of the worst heat waves ever...
Wow, prayers for rain. Does that lake depend on any snow melt? Or is it too low elevation.

Off today and tomorrow. My mother turns 92 today. We are to pick her up later, and drive her to Canyon Lake above New Braunfels for a mini family reunion. She still has her driver's license, but does not drive at night or long distances.

Don, I'm waiting for my lawn/weeds to dry a little to mow. Debating on using Steiner beast or riding mower. 6' vs 42" decks.

Thomas sorry about your work's personnel issues. All too often, personnel/management issues is what can make a good job a bad job. There's an old saying "Who died/quit/got sick and left you boss?"

So I had pink eye, believed to be caused by allergies. About a week ago, went to Dr and he prescribed Olopatadine eye drops. Eye is better.

Nice pictures you guys. Stream crossings, Key West, Dogs and Butterflies.

Talking with my hay cutter last night, he said when he was much younger, he had to get a tractor from Houma La to Giddings Tx and had no trailer. So he drove it. WOW. 437 miles at 18 mph. Said it took him nearly 3 days, stayed off of main roads. Said he was a wore out pup.

Prayers for our team, those in silent need, and our country.

In another month or two it will be time to renew (or replace) the insurance on both the Homeowner's policy AND the Auto policy. We currently have annual, instead of 6 month, AAA insurance policies. When we had the roof replaced recently due to hail damage, the roofing guy said there is sure better insurance.

Anyone have anything good, or bad, to say about any particular insurance company? One that I'm curious about is Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Bird, I have heard that Liberty Mutual is not writing replacement cost coverage on roofs in Texas. Just be sure you are actually comparing the true coverage in any companies you are looking at.

Mine is with Farmers and they have been very easy to deal with.

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 92F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Beautiful cool morning with clean air for a change due to the southeast winds. A Red Flag Warning will expire at 9PM.

I think I'd be more worried about the mower sprouting legs and wandering off than a little bit of CO in the garage, Drew. But that's just little ol' paranoid me...

Looks like somebody had some fun in Florida, Ken!

Horrible news out of Greenville, CA this morning. Shots of main street show fire gutted buildings and most of the town destroyed. Yesterday's wind was just too strong for the firefighters to hold off the flames. Firefighters had their hands full in Chester yesterday, it was evacuated yesterday, too. The fire maps don't look good for it, but this video seems to indicate they saved the town:

And sitting on the patio last night I noticed another fire cloud to the southeast, and learned that the little town of Colfax had been evacuated. My widow friend lives only a mile or so from that fire, but so far the winds are blowing it away from her. Hope it stays that way.

Managed to get the junction box installed and the rest of the conduit stuffed and loaded into the trench. Made it to the base of the water tank, but somehow ended up about 15' too short. I'd planned another junction box for the top of the tank, but I guess now it'll be at the base instead. Best laid plans and all that.

Gonna take advantage of the cool morning and get the wiring through the wall of the pump house and hook up a new Ethernet switch in there. Maybe even clean up a rat's nest of wiring while I'm at it. Then off to town for groceries.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good morning to all! Low of 53°, going up to 84. Only a slight chance of a t-storm.... now in a dryer period (don't know HOW it can be any drier...) until next week when the monsoon flow will return. Temps will be up into the lower 90's over the weekend.

Got the trimmer head all set up, but didn't take it for a walk. It got too warm in the sun yesterday afternoon. Just couldn't find the energy.

The best laid plans.... thinking that I would get out there early this morning to do the trimming.... nope!
Wifey reminded me last night that we have two appointments this morning. I lost a day somewhere..... Well, maybe when we get back....

Got to get a move on.... Everyone have a great day!

Zero chance of rain before at least October, Kyle, except for maybe a thunderstorm, and we really don't need the lightning. One passed through last week, and they're still fighting almost a dozen fires to the west and north of here.

Lake Oroville does get snowmelt water from the mountains to the north and east, but this year the snow was very thin on the ground. The lake level at the end of last year's rainy season was at the lowest level ever, and I have to wonder why managers used the water as if there were an endless supply, mostly to flush salt water out of the San Francisco Bay. Now they're not giving any water to farmers so they can irrigate, and those with no wells, and those that can't get theirs drilled deeper, are selling off their livestock and letting their fields go fallow. Get ready for higher produce prices at the grocery store. And higher pork prices in California, too, as new regulations go into effect setting minimum pig sty sizes to levels that will force many farmers out of that business.

There are multiple companies in Texas that are not writing replacement cost coverage on roofs on new business unless the roof is less than a year old (or some other variable of condition/age).

Neighbor just replaced a roof out of his pocket because Liberty Mutual denied it was damaged by hail. About half the houses in our neighborhood had roofs replaced due to hail damage recently, including two others on his street. They also had excluded the replacement cost coverage when they wrote it about a year ago.

RNG, the magnitude of those fires cannot be depicted by the videos. That is some scary stuff! I wonder if the retardant sprayed on the houses actually helps....

61°F and clear skies with spotty fog this morning, going up to 88° today.

We had a repair guy come in at work yesterday to give us a quote for possibly repairing one of our older tube bending machines. I met him out in the shop while he was waiting for my boss. He introduced himself, and I me, to which he replied with a big grin, "Yeah, the bass player! I used to see you all the time!" One of my coworkers looked at me funny like "whaaaaat?" Haven't had that happen in a long time ... been quite a few years now since I've played anywhere in public.

Let the dogs out yesterday evening before I started mowing, and got aggravated at the middle one for barking at the chickens through the back fence. Once I made my first perimeter pass back there, I realized why; three of the chickens were out of the coop and wandering around by the barn. The coop we erected three years ago has been starting to deteriorate this year. The lid on one of the laying boxes took a sudden turn for the worse over the last week, and apparently it completely fell apart sometime during the day and fell off, leaving a nice opening for them to escape. So, I finished mowing the fenced in yard, then went to fix the coop. Found a small piece of plywood in the barn, marked it and cut it to size, then mounted it to the existing hinges. Easy peasy. I'll need to weather proof it this weekend, but at least it's closed for now. I herded up the three escapees, which went surprisingly well, and returned them to their confinement. Got a little more mowing done after that, then walked the line trimmer around inside the fence just as it started to get dark, and called it a night.

I earned my dinner, which was spaghetti, and was delicious.

Wife is going to see her father this morning and talk with his doctor. He apparently decided to lift the covid isolation. She's going with her aunt and uncle to talk about his care and rehab options.
