Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 103F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Is that a wet bluebird chick, Ron?
My two neighbors showed up yesterday morning in a water truck, and refilled the small tank before leaving and coming back with more water and an adapter fitting to start filling the bigger one up the hill. It seemed to be working fine until the truck got to the last quarter tank, and water transfer seemed to stop. Somehow they concluded that the pump couldn't overcome the increased head as the water rose, and no amount of discussion could convince him that 4' of water only exerts another 2 PSI. He thinks it's all about the weight of the water!
We talked about several solutions, but the only thing needed is to increase the RPMs on the pump to boost the pressure slightly. He also said he had a ton of people waiting on water deliveries, and that may have been his real reason for stalling. Dunno for sure, but just to be safe I'm going to start looking for another water truck driver.
Spent the rest of the day playing tug-o-war with the conduit and wire. Got two 100' lengths in place, but after the tape between the fish tape and wire broke for the second time on the third piece, I called it quits. It was so hot inside the conduit by then the tape had no strength. Or at least that's what I think was going on.
Spent an hour trying to get the rubber bellows onto the transmission on the red bike, and came up empty handed there, too. One hard to get to side just wasn't cooperating, and when 5PM came around the thought of a cool shower and dinner was too much to resist.
Bad news on the Dixie Fire yesterday afternoon, with two sizeable breakouts across the northern fire lines. Lots of new Mandatory Evacuations, and with windy weather and high temperatures on the way, there are bound to be more.
More tug-o-war for today, if I can get up out of bed. I feel like I've been run over by that water truck.
