Like I said, don't care if off road diesel is 6 bucks a gallon, I roll it into the cost of the produce I grow.
\
Gas don't really bother me either. My buggy gets 40 mpg.

I just enacted a “fuel surcharge“ to my field mowing customers and will do same with feed hay.
Curious to see their reaction.
Never had to do this before. Wait till they see prices for next year. I’m hearing $5/G by end of summer will be common.
So much for “gas prices only up 13 cents a gallon since last year”

Yep. My per round bale price is increasing 5 on first and 7 on second. Need to pay for that new Kubota bailer...

Maybe more depending on how the fuel prices go.

You and I both know who to thank for that and it ain't the Lord either.

It’s everyone now. I said I would take advantage, and I’m actually not, but holy Toledo, whats a guy supposed to do?

Neither am I. It's about running in the black or going teats up. Inflation has a hold of us, just like everyone else and I'm sure glad I bought all my diesel last fall. This fall will be a different story entirely.

You your neighbor really cooked our gooses....(n)

Glad about one thing and that is, both my M's are really frugal on fuel usage. I can see much less idle time though. Guess I'll have to deal with a hot cab rather then letting them idle with the ac on.

Cannot believe I just bought a new round baler but the price was too good to pass up. BTW, it takes 2 rolls of net at a time and automatically switches over when one roll is depleted and it will run mixed wrap as well so I guess you can run net and overwrap with twine too (or as how I read it to be)... Holds 10 balls of twine too. My NH held 4 and one roll of net with another in the back. This one, both rolls are in the front.

Next year if I survive this charade intact, I'll probably trade in the disc mower for a new one. I'd really like an 100 foot wide center pivot. PTO power will limit the choice. Not upgrading to a T4 tractor. Not in the cards.

Locked in on this years pricing by contract but next year, the sky is the limit.

It's all relative in the long run... we knew that the economy wasn't going to last forever. Those with foresight will do OK; not borrowing money like it was water, and maybe even planning ahead enough to be

sure glad I bought all my diesel last fall.
👍 ;)

We just passed $3.00/gallon in some stations in STL.

But — much more of a problem — our favorite breakfast place today RAN OUT OF BACON and is blaming virus distribution problems.

This is serious!!!

Iowa has more pigs than any state by a huge margin. Cali isn’t even on the radar.

MoKelly

California consumes about 255 millions pounds of pork per month. They only produce 45 million within the state. You can bet that California is definitely on the radar for Iowa pork producers that won't be able to sell their products in California.

Outlawing bacon... Man, I'd take that one to the Supreme Court. And... Pay for the lawyers.

They don't want to outlaw bacon. They don't want you to do it the cruel way raising pigs in feedlots, when you could be growing it in styrofoam trays the way that nature meant it to be grown.

I'm all for animal rights; any animal raised to feed us should be treated humanely and raised as well as possible. Happy pigs make better bacon... that kind of thing.

I agree. That's why I pointed out in a previous post (perhaps in another thread?) that I raise my own protein. However, too many people in today's society are way too disconnected about where their food comes from.
Hint: whether animal, plant or mineral, nothing we eat grows naturally in styrofoam trays.

Correct. Everyone knows food comes from grocery stores.🤣
