Yesterday, I noticed that Free Amazon Prime Delivery has a faint notation saying that $25.00 order is required for it o be free. Is this something new? I thought ALL Prime deliveries were free?

what is it you are buying? I just ordered something this morning for $14 and it was free delivery.

Maybe it is limited to certain things? Shipped and sold by Amazon or an affiliate?

It has to have the little prime stmbol by it to be shipped free under $25.

I believe there are some items - costing very little - that need to be combined to get to a certain dollar amount to be delivered free.

Even Amazon won’t deliver a $.99 scotch tape dispenser for free.

Even non prime members get free delivery with a $25 order. Prime memberes get free deliver on all orders.

Both of those statements have a kicker that the item has to be an "Eligible" item. So it is possible an item could not be eligible for prime delivery, but WOULD give you free delivery if it was part of an order totalling $25.00.

Things like the 99 cent tape dispenser are considered "add on" items by Amazon and you get free delivery of those items of they are added on to an order that otherwise qualifies for free delivery.

Also they now have a notation telling you if the item has a free return. If that notation is not there you have to pay for the return postage.

You will see that note if you are looking at Amazon and not logged into your account. Log in and that note will go away

Thanks to all who replied. The last few answers explained the situation nicely. I don't think I was signed in when I noticed the message.

A Scotch tape dispenser with free delivery won’t cost $.99

I might be wrong but I believe there are 2 classes of listings.
Amazon owned and sold stock and vs. independent vendors selling their own merchandize on the Amazon website. (unlike EBay that only lists client's goods)

Back a while there was a lady selling OLIVE OIL that used Amazon.
She divulged all the fees involved and it became quite costly, I recall.
Warehouse fees, moving fees, stocking fees---you get the idea.

I.E.: otherwise said, Amazon competes with some of their vendors.

Shipping is a major problem across the board right now.

I e-mailed Amazon and complained that I was not getting 2 day Prime deliveries a while back. They explained that it is 2 day shipping from the time it is shipped. So, I've found most of the time, if is it sold and shipped by Amazon, it goes out within hours of receiving the order and comes in 2 "business" days. If it is a vendor selling on Amazon, and they are backed up and don't ship your order for a day or two, it won't deliver until 2 days after they process and ship it.

I ordered some things last Saturday that were sold by Amazon. The confirmation stated I'd receive the goods Tuesday. The goods came today, exactly 2 days after placing the order.

Yes, this is why when you go to confirm your order you may get different delivery dates. I recently had something coming from a vendor that Amazon estimated 5 days for, but the Vendor shipped it the very next day and I had it in 3 days from order.

I wasn't confused. People that think "free" shipping exists are confused.

I ordered a Harry Bosch book from Amazon. $7.99. Showed up on my front door one day later.

Barnes & Noble has same book in the store. $9.99. I can get sent to me in 5 days for $3.99 shipping.

Couldn’t find it anywhere else for less than $10.99.

Free Amazon Prime costs the consumer about $13 a month which for me would be a very lousy deal because I very rarely order from Amazon. A few months ago I ordered one of those battery booster pack things that had free shipping, the next month there was a $13 charge on my credit card for Amazon prime membership. So I spent about a half hour on the phone with Amazon customer service to get the charge refunded, they refunded the money but this month the $13 charge was on my credit card again so I spent another half hour on the phone again !
