Good Morning!!!! 85F @ 4:00AM. Sunny. Near record high temperatures. High 113F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
The 10-day doesn't show much improvement in high temps, with hundreds and high nineties the norm, but at least the lows will drop back into the high sixties by mid week.
Memory tests and Medicare mandated exams? I've never had much of a mind for remembering things I couldn't at least write down first. Not even in grade school, after writing Lincoln's Gettysburg Address down repeatedly until my hand hurt. What do they do to you if you flunk?
Ever since Drew's post about hats the other day, I've been looking on and off for a replacement for my old straw hat, which is still too big even with terry cloth shims under the sweat band. It's getting a little ratty, too. I like the ones with ventilated crowns, but want a chin strap, and a brim that won't flop around in the wind. Every time I find one, it's not available in my size, or the reviews say it'll fall apart in a month. More Covid shortage problems still rattling through the supply lines.
I've had a lot of those blow molded cases show up busted to pieces by the gorillas at the post office, UPS, and FedEx. Not a problem when the tools will end up in a tool chest, not fun when it's something electric or air operated that comes with a lot of little parts. I usually end up just throwing them away and making do somehow. Then there's those tool truck cases that are so nice I can't bring myself to toss them out, even after the tools end up in one of their nice roll away chests. Somewhere up in the rafters there's a cardboard box full of them. I can just picture the look on whoever's face that gets stuck cleaning this place out after I'm gone.
Got in a short session outside yesterday morning before the thermometer hit a hundred before noon. Enough to see that there's a little more digging needed this morning, and the impact hammer will spend some time outside its blow molded case doing it.
Don cautioned about making sure to leave plenty of slack in the plastic pipe lines. Well, in these temperatures there's so much it looks like the trench is full of black snakes. I'm gonna have to wait for cooler weather before anything gets buried.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
