So is it true or not. California officials ask people not to charge their cars during heat wave to protect power grid.
this coming from a state that wants to do away with diesel and gas cars and rely totally on electric. They also want to do away with all dams, coal and nuclear power.
and dams hold water...which they also don’t have

My understanding is technically no they did not ask EV owners to not recharge, but for all practical purposes, yes they did (in effect). If they ask people to reduce their load on the grid .... well, charging an EV is a load. And yes, I understand EVs can be set to charge at later hours but that is not always practical. What this does tell me is the grid is not as robust as some say it is.

It's gotta be better than the Texas grid.

The grid was fine when I lived in Abilene while in college 1977-1981. Well for heat the gas heater was non electric and for cooling the swamp cooler only used a few amps of 120 volts of current. :)
.
Plus that was before charging all of those Tesla's broke the grid. :(

I heard about a man that got electrocuted trying to jump start his electric car...the police are looking at leads...!

A smarter, cleaner way to maintain that interstate flow of goods while mitigating climate change would be to fix the train system. Congress has proven incompetent.

If greenhouse gasses are a problem (we already have over 92% of the greenhouse effect possible from CO2, the effect is not linear and not without limits) then a diesel-electric locomotive is about 50x cleaner than a diesel tractor-trailer.

The only economical source of H2 is from natural gas, which negates the "greenhouse gas" argument. All environmental claims for fuel cell H2 are based on the fantasy of free electricity from solar cells. The fact is PV solar amortized over 25 years costs more than coal electricity.

A 10kw PV system costs $25,000 installed. If one averages 5 (this is generous, most have 4) hours full production per day (then 0 for the rest of the day, this is how one estimates PV production for differing locales) for 25 years at 0% interest and no repairs the cost is $0.055/kWh.

TVA only pays $0.015/kWh for your grid tie PV excess as Congress said the utility only has to pay the audited incremental cost of production for the offset due to your PV contribution.

Now you know why they legalized weed in Cali...... you need to smoke a ____-ton of it to make sense of this......

Hydro-electric (assuming of course, that you have water....)...... that's the one that really cracks me up.....

OK, so if you build EV batteries with it:

Gigafactories: Europe tools up against US and Asia as a car battery force

Then it's Green !

Anything else though.... Hydro Electric is EVIL !

That's a Big Load all right .... but I do have to admit, that load IS truly Green - it makes great fertilizer !

Wrong guess but I do like your humor. :)

Main point is the world will keep spinning and the sun will keep coming up. Pay attention to the ice core sample. We may someday retreat to the caves again and produce a new caveman era. :)

We seem to be rapidly heading in that direction.
