Pacific North West - Excessive heat warning issued

Used a point and shoot temp reader on our black car yesterday.
The paint temp in early afternoon read 174 degrees.

My next vehicle purchase will probably be white in color.

ps. Also worried about several fires happening this 4th. Things are very dry.

Several hay growers already cut their hay around here, can't say i remember seeing cutting this early in the past.

Our overnight low finally dropped from 78 to high 60's, so running my exhaust fan on the far end of the house managed to suck in enough cool air overnight that it's right pleasant now.
There was a really intense wind came through yesterday evening, stirred things up good. It's fortunate that it wasn't a day earlier because about that time there was a massive house fire four streets north; that wind would have pushed it all the way to the waterfront park and burned up half of Keizer.

I do the exact same thing as you -flyerdan. Unfortunately - my evening temps only dropped to 78 last night. I was able to pull the inside temps down to 82.

Still - when Brownie & I go outside( it's 106 right now ) - coming back inside still feels like entering a walk in cooler.

I know I speak for many regarding our concerns for the upcoming July 4 celebrations.

🥵The weather folks down here are calling that a "1000 year event". Even Death Valley hit a new high. I feel for you Northwest folks but down in my neck of the woods that's called Summer Time. :ROFLMAO:
That's why we don't live there.🥵

Well, I had my fill of shoveling snow at 4am to get to work. Did that for almost my entire career when I lived in Ohio. The average snowfall was 120" a year in the snowbelt. I remember it snowing in June. So I'm glad I don't live there any more. ;)

Moss - the humidity here. Right now at almost 7AM ---- outside, 80F and 35% humidity. As it warms the humidity almost disappears.

Yesterday - 5PM - - 105F and 6% relative humidity.
On the wet side of the state we had a high of 83% and a low of 47%. But even over here it depends where you are. We had more heat, more humidity and less wind than most of Western WA.

Not a 95/95 day like some places get but by and large homes don't have AC either.

I bush hogged my entire CA property in early June for fire abatement. I can't cut anymore as the fire risk is too high. In normal rainfall years I'd still be cutting through late July or so. So close to two months of difference.

The guy that runs cattle on my place is putting up hay at a record pace for June in this area. Drys in no time.
