Massey 204 Newb Question

Hi all, glad I found this site. This might be a silly question, but I’ve searched and can’t find an answer. My ~1959 Massey 204 Industrial gear shift will not move left or right, just back and forth. Does anyone know if this is normal due to the reversomatic and hydro drive trans? The shifter has the gear pattern stamped near it, but maybe that’s just the way they made all the Masseys. Any info or tips in general would be appreciated. Got this thing for free and the bucket/ PTO work. I’m happy so far. Thank you all!

Both shifters only go up and down.
