I just heard on a news report that Texas may be having brownouts from high AC usage during this heatwave. They mentioned generators aren't available for purchase. California is experiencing blackouts and will have to live without AC. Other states are reporting the same. How are people going to charge their EV's?

At night, same as we always do. When the grid has at least 50% surplus capacity.

So the blackouts are only happening in the middle of the day and the power comes back on in the evening? Then, everyone's house is 115 degrees from no AC all day, people crank their AC and plug their cars in all at the same time?

I found this 33 minute about who Apple is talking with to manufacture their EV for robotaxi fleet helpful especially the BYD info. BYD seems to be the most influential EV player in the world at this point in EV history.

I see no one mentioning Volvo, which is Chinese owned and is pushing EV pretty hard with Geely, their owner, as their EV partner
In China , you see a large percentage of Volvo's on the road, and it's a huge, growing market.

Does the moon supply enough light for the solar panels?
No, but then you don't generally have brown outs at night either which was part of the original question. In places like Texas and California, all your electricity needs are during the day to run that AC which makes solar an ideal way to save you money and take load off the grid.

Hopefully EV owners have a south facing window in their apartment.
If they're lucky they'll eventually live in an apartment that already has solar, kinda like these or these that are pulling nothing at all from the grid.

Meanwhile in MD, solar panels caused a $500,000 fire.

Where do you park your tractor in a place like that?

Electricity can cause fires, that is true. I feel like that's been going on for a long time before solar panels were a thing though.

You're asking where people who live in an apartment park their tractor? Man, you are rural.

Hey this is a tractor forum and somebody's talking about living in an apartment.

Is that common? I guess I never thought about someone living in an apartment and needing a place to park their tractor there every day.

Maybe you should talk about apartment living in an urban forum.

I think freight elevator and a large living room would cover the tractor storage requirements for an apartment
Maybe an electric, autonomous tractor to keep it on subject?

I was just responding to people (like you) who asked about plugging in a tractor at an apartment but that's OK, it's not important. It's kinda turning into a "who's on first" Abbott and Costello bit anyway ;)
