Rant on shipping

I am expecting something from Amazon and I went on their website to check status. It displayed a map of where the van is and told me it is 5 stops away from me. Amazing

On more than one occasion I've seen when he was in my neighborhood and have been able to meet him at the road. You can hear the truck coming for quite a ways up the road, and I know that they are swamped, may as well save him a few steps.

Curious, did the driver ask for ID?

No, I was standing at the end of my driveway.
But anyone tracking the truck could have been standing at the end of your driveway.

These days a thief will think of anything.

I got a pleasant surprise re the shipment of the Ryobi ZT 48v. When ordered 30 April from HD, it said June 1 delivery. Later, it said May 24. It arrived this last week!

Only the recipient gets the tracking info, unless somebody hacked into your Amazon account. If so the crook would probably just order items to be shipped someplace else.

Then they should send me a big message "WE PRINTED YOUR LABEL", not "Good news, George. Your order shipped on 05/01/20"
... and that, of course, means that you cannot cancel the order since it has 'already been shipped'!

Porch pirates follow the vehicle, they don’t need no tracking notice.

Exactly. Where I live there are numerous driveways 50 to 100' from each other on the county road. A porch pirate could petend to be out for a walk and flag down the fedex truck when he sees it slowing down....

Hey what address are you delivering to?...
12345 Walnut....
That's me! I will take it.

You did better than me. A hot water heater I ordered from HD back in mid-March finally arrived at the store today. According to the tracking link, it spent over 3 weeks in St. Louis.

I've seen Amazon trucks in southern N.H., but never any this far north. Anything I've ordered came either UPS or USPS except when I specified one of their hub lockers. Don't know who delivered it there.

Mine was a UPS truck. They also have map tracking, I didn't even realize that the original comment was about Amazon.

Once I shipped a heavy industrial cobbler's sewing machine to a collector.
Only option was P.O. with weight limits so I split into 3 parts and did a very careful job of parceling. (plywood, foam pads strapping etc)
I marked parcels 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3.
Well they somehow managed to fracture a casting, (probably dropped from height).
The PO wanted the damaged parcel returned (for an additional fee) but I managed to talk them out of that and accept a digital photo.
Now the fun part.
The wanted to settle for a minor amount but I insisted on full sale price and quoted the fact that it was one shipment of one item in 3 parts.
The fact that I marked 1/3,2/3,3/3 won my argument for full claim.

Then since the buyer kept the damaged shipment he later reported that he brazed the broken part and had a usable machine.

Got to be a rare win/win case of shipping damage.

It's been bad enough having some mail and packages arrive late but now some of my emails are arriving late. I have had at least 10 this week that arrived over 3 days later then the sending date on them.

Now, how the he!! do you make emails run late?

Slow internet? No clue really but wife has the same problems with her iPhone sending and receiving texts and photos. No problems at all with the Samsung phones.

I had a configuration problem on my ipad that made it so I was only getting some of my emails.

I read today Amazon is opening its first “grab and go” grocery store in Washington state.

You bring your phone and Amazon app in the store. It magically knows what products you put in your cart. It charges you when you leave the store and provides a detailed receipt to your phone.

No checkout. No slowing down when you leave.
