So it took two jacks to lift it ? That trailor is probably carrying a load at least 2 times what it should be. Maybe 3. Wow

three jacks and I had to run to my house and bring back my 3 ton jack.

Spring hanger broke? I don’t see a brake on the front axle did the rear one have brakes? Any guess on how much that load weighed?

as I said I tried to do some educating hopefully it took. I did not look for a brake axle because when I walked up the trailer wire was not connected and the end was gone, as far as weight I would say over 6,000 lbs.

2500-3000 if they were full pallets. Looks like a 7k trailer so overloaded in any case.

But they did have one strap. Hate to see what would happen on a hard turn with that much SOD.

The guy driving the truck stated the trailer was swaying because of the tire going flat. I told him the trailer was swaying because it is badly overloaded and there is to much weight behind the axle. so they moved some sod up to the front. I also told him to look on youtube for some good demonstrations on weight distribution, he looked at me like I was to old to know what youtube is

I wonder if that is what the British phrase "sod off!" means? :D

Hmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,, IIRC,,,
phrasal verb. If someone tells someone else to sod off, they are telling them in a very rude way to go away or leave them alone. [British, informal, rude]

Less funny situation in Texas yesterday, 9 dead. Might have mostly had their loads secured properly, but driving this fast on ice is insane.

Scary stuff.

That's awful... just awful. In the video it didn't show what the road was like approaching this area but it seemed like the incoming traffic wasn't slowing down at all. Was it a sharp corner or a downhill or why didn't they have a chance to slow before coming to the giant pileup? And if it was that slippery that they could see the pileup but not slow down for hundreds of yards they sure shouldn't have been driving that fast. Sad for everyone involved.

Rack 'em and stack 'em... Looks like lots of freight won't get delivered as promised. Must be Texas don't know what road salt is...

Sad but totally preventable.

Anybody who has seen it ice up knows how fast it can happen. I little mist or drizzle makes it happen fast, plus in Texas that aren’t equipped like northern states.

Coming from Michigan, I've seen the road go from dry to pure ice over a stretch of a quarter mile. It is hard to believe unless you've experienced it and when it happens it is like someone turned off the friction machine, because when you touch the brakes you get nothing.

Kind of harsh? Quite a few people died in this crash.

Co-worker had to dispatch some people to de-stress the first responders there (he is a volunteer). :-(

Timely... a discussion in another thread touches base on the need to always say what you think, with no regard about the consequences.

Black ice is tricky... you don't know it's there until you are sliding sideways. That accident looks like it was on a bridge, they tend to freeze first.

A few thoughts on that TX pile up. DFW area is full of elevated highways, with a maze of ramps etc. Sometimes if feels like miles of snarled highways all elevated. They do little if any salting, and rely on minimal sand use. Most times I swear they just wait for the sun to melt it which it does by 10;00am on many ice and snow days. This coming Sunday-Tuesday will be a mess there with temps near zero for a couple nights and several inches of snow coming. I've been there with snow and ice at levels I would say are just another winter day up here, but there everything closes. After driving in that weather there I realized it isn't the roads that are dangerous, its the drivers who know nothing about driving in it. The locals who do drive on those days drive at normal speeds, 75 - 80 mph on a sheet of ice, weaving around cars until they wreck. But the black ice that caused the massive pile up was not wide spread. Areas just minutes away had no ice, so I'm sure the traffic was flowing fast and heavy, unfortunately.
