Responding to the 'make up something to get results' thread running through here...

If you have to lie or make something up to get the results you want then either there is something broken with the system or your view of the right outcome is inconsistent with that of the rest of the world. In the case of an unbound load on a trailer I suspect any law enforcement agency will take it seriously and prioritize their response to the situation as best they can (which may not be an immediate response if they have bigger issues going on). If they didn't check it out at all though, then you have a broken system and something should be done to fix the system. There are ways to investigate and fix that. Lying is not the fix. For other types of issues that you feel should warrant a response from the police but don't get it, the situation may be that your preferred outcome is not consistent with the judgement of others. Consider that it is your understanding that may need adjustment, not a lie to get the result you want.

Well, the "agency" might have different priorities than yours. Like the guy who reported house invasion when somebody was in his garage. Called 911 and got some BS about all cops being busy right now. Waited few minutes and called again saying: "You don't need to hurry now. The guy is dead." There several cop cars by his house within few minutes. Sometime you need to game the system.
Another example is from my old country where we almost never called cops for help because they would make it worse for you. Guy is standing on a sidewalk late at night screaming all cops are idiots. Few showed up to beat some sense into him. He turned around and had a knife sticking from his back. When asked why he yelled cops are idiots he answered if I yell help you would not show up.

Those sound like urban legends, but I don't doubt there is a vein of truth.

At work we realized the people from the country respected cops. People from the (big) city did not (at all) respect cops.

Are you saying that theskidsteer isn't sliding at all on the trailer, not even 1 inch? I would probably phrase it that the skidsteer was "not chained down or otherwise secured and free to slide around on the trailer, or even slide off of the trailer"

Nice to see you are not still trying to be the boy who cried wolf.

I have an irregular piece of commercial fish net, the type used to winch aboard a ton or so. It's a fragment from a damaged commercial net. I got one 4x9 piece out of it plus some small pieces. Ideal for what I carry in the 4x8 trailer.

Does anyone know the source for more? Either used, to cut down, or new?

Here's one source- I've bought billboard vinyls and a few other things from them- they can be great deals, or horrible ones- it all depends on the day and the items:
USED Safety/ Cargo Netting | repurposedMATERIALS

These may be a [little bitty bit] bigger than you'd need ;):
USED Ski Netting Inventory | repurposedMATERIALS

YMMV

Also, those stretchy "cargo nets" [HF brand comes to mind] are NOT useful for heavy or large items that can overcome their ability to hold it down, but they are excellent in their correct application- over a tarp for sand etc, or in our case over a full-size [F350 long bed] pickup truck with a 14' TSC tubular metal gate laying flat on the bed floor and extending out the back- stacked high with 50-gallon debris bags filled with a total of $75+ worth of 2-liter pop/soda bottles...

We didn't lose a bottle, much less a bag- something that was impossible when we tried using a tarp strapped down with ratchet straps and bungees a couple of years before- when we had to stop and pick up a couple of bottles, and re-mediate the tarp and tie-downs 2 or 3 times in an approx. 12-mile trip..

Thanks. I bookmarked them. I'll check from time to time to see if they get in some smaller sizes.

90' x 12' ft $270 is a little more than I need at the moment.

There's likely an opportunity for someone to make money on Ebay selling cut down segments made from those.

Tarps with the nets over them work great. Keeps the tarp from flapping and shredding in the wind and the net from tangling up in the cargo.

Wow, that's another great idea that I never thought of. :)
