I'm in the market for an electric power washer come Spring time.

Lots of options but I was wondering if anyone on here has recommendations based on their own experience. I'm tired of reading "reviews" after someone just tried out their brand new power washer for 30 minutes

Think ours is called Black Cat, or something like that. Works good, but the chamber to put soap, etc. in never has been sucked out.

I have two large pressure washers, but they are pricey units (one is a 13HP Honda powered CAT pump, and the other an older electric Hotsy).
I also have a little consumer "Sun Joe", which for a cheapie unit, seems to be holding up....so far.

Did you put the "dribbler" nozzle on it? They typically won't siphon from that tank with a high pressure nozzle.

I bought one of the $100 electrics off Amazon last summer. I've used it a lot during my Ford 3910 restoration. It's still working. I have two other gas powered but they both bit the dust a few years ago. Be sure to drain them after each use. And keep the connections clean of debris.

I’ve got a 120v Karcher that works well for what it is, but it will never compete with a 5gpm gas powered unit. It’s at least 20 years old, so I’ve got no complaints on durability

I bought a small 2200 PSI one from Home Depot or Lower..dont remember,,But its green in color and Its ok...I use it to clean dirt bikes after a ride. It struggles to really clean all the dirt off and will not do a very good job cleaning vehicles..It always leaves a thin film of dirt still on the paint

That is pretty much the situation with all similar low pressure COLD water washers!

I got this one a couple years ago. We needed to powerwash the fence in front of the house. Some contractor wanted $250 to do it. It took me 4 or 5 hours to do it with this unit. It worked well for that purpose. It also does a good job cleaning off horse blankets (take them off horse first!) and the tractor and implements.

Pros to the electric are you do not have another engine to maintain.
Cons are not nearly as much power as a gas unit and you have to power the thing if you are far from an electrical source. I use my stand by generator for this purpose.

I also powerwashed the deck before staining it. Worked well for that purpose too. Blew all the loose stain off and left me a nice clean surface to apply new stain to. That was just this late summer so no word on how the stain is holding up yet.

I think the biggest thing is to understand what you are buying and its power (or lack of power) and the jobs it can realistically handle. If I was needing to regularly powerwash large farm equipment this machine would not be up to that kind of task. For my 24 horse power SCUT no issues.

I found that as long as the electric power washer was stored inside and didn't freeze, they would last a while.
I have a Sun Joe type, going on 4 years and still works fine for clearing grunge off cement and the house.
Also less dangerous for the wife to use vs. gas powered.
