Good morning!!!!

Good Morning.
It’s 37 headed to upper 40’s. No rain today. Got 3/4” yesterday.

It hard to lose a dog even though we know we are almost certain to out live them. I always describe the unconditional love of a dog by saying that if you lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car, who’s glad to see you when you come back and let them out.
As I type this, Emily (big dog) is lying next to me.

Not sure what the plan for today is, but it will likely involve some combination of tools and errands.

I think someone would be knitting you an alpaca noose if you pulled that stunt at home....:D
but yes, your dog would just slobber over you in appreciation

31 right now and snowing steadily...pretty hard, actually. Wind's whipping too... High in the mid to upper 30's. Forecast now is 1-3" and there's just about 1.5" (or a bit less) on the deck right now. I'd kind of like to see more...5-6 inches.

Chores will be clearing the snow when it stops...until then, I'm just going to watch it...love watching snowfall...

Lot of comments about LS' DIL's pup passing...very sad, but when it comes down to it, I think I'd rather our pup pass naturally then by euthanasia. I've had to have a couple dogs put to sleep, and I'm right there petting and stroking them when it happens...I'm sure most of you folks have been through the same and you know how heartbreaking it is...going naturally and quickly would be traumatic too...but I think it would be less traumatic then a purposeful act.

I couldn’t agree more. Especially if they were comfortable and happy until they expired.

just like we want to be...we would want no less for our pets

heats on in the garage, giving that a few minutes to warm up, then putting clean metal primer
on a metal sculpture a friend made for me on his cnc plasma cutter. Says Coffee vertically and has three
mugs on it . I sanded down the sharp edges, and will wipe it down first in mineral spirits. Then a primer
today, brown paint the following day except for mugs which will be red, white and blue.
And then on the kitchen wall.

We shall see...

We had one of each in the last 2 of our dogs that died. The first was 12 and had an inoperable cancer that was putting her in pain and discomfort that wasn’t going to get better. A scheduled euthanasia.

The second was 10 and just passed away one evening peacefully next to my wife’s chair just before bedtime. We thought she was snoozing until she didn’t join her other 2 pals going out for their evening potty break. Autopsy found a burst blood vessel in her brain.

In the first case we had some time to mentally prepare ourselves for the loss. In the second case the shock of the dog dying suddenly was excruciating.

LS, we understand what your DIL and the whole family is going through. You have our best wishes.

Frank

Good morning. 40 now, temp is supposed to slowly drop today. Really cloudy right now. Maybe some snow tomorrow.

Wife has taking me grocery shopping on the schedule today. She thinks it痴 time I venture out. Probably is, but reluctant to be around people. Need to do it though.

We don稚 have a scale Kyle, so not sure how much I gained back. I know I gained 1# in the hospital between in the IV food bag and liquids by mouth in 2 days. I know I am not eating as much. Feel full a lot sooner. Which is a good thing.

Everyone stay safe out there

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:30AM. Generally cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 54F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
The 10-day is still showing showers on and off, but only about an inch and a half of accumulation. Probably just as well, what with hundreds of thousands of acres burned in the mountains being prone to landslides of too much rain falls too quickly.

Wish I could sleep like that, Paul, though my neck would probably be as sore as Drew's when I woke up!

Sat outside and watched the sunset last night, but no campfire this time. Just warm enough without it, but went in as soon as the sun disappeared and was glad for the warmth inside. The big doe that hangs around and a couple of her mostly grown fawns were grazing by the solar array, and she kept looking up at me. So I made some huffing sounds I've heard them make, and she perked her ears and took a step closer. So I made a chipmunk sound, and that really got her interested, bringing her another couple steps closer. I was getting cold, so when she turned her head to check on her fawns, I stood up to go back inside, and when she looked back she didn't like what she saw and they all trotted off.

Tried to find info in vaccine injection schedules and criteria for California yesterday, but apparently they're still working on the plan. There'll be three phases, and right now front line healthcare workers and those elderly in care facilities have top priority. Beyond that, who knows. It's all dependent on the supply of vaccine, and how quickly new ones get approval. I find it somewhat disheartening that they're letting younger people not in healthcare get the vaccine so show a good example because of they're political standing or fame. To me, that sends just the opposite message: if you're a nobody, you get to the back of the line.:irked:

I don't think any of you are going to lose any weight after last night's dinner! don't think I will either, what with a nice pork chop from the BBQ, green beans, sour kraut, and wild rice. Found a bottle of Zinfandel from 2001, one left over from a case picked when a friend and I were barrel tasting in Sonoma County long ago. The cork came out in little pieces, but I somehow managed to keep it out of the wine, and it was delicious, especially after it had some time to air up a little. For dessert I found an even bottle of Zinfandel port, same deal with the cork, but it was also very nice. At least 2021 seems to have gotten off on a strong cullinary foot!

Somewhere I've got the plumbing to rig cooling on the lathe, Kyle, but just don't want to put up with the mess. I'll be sticking with dry and slow; I think the groove only gets cut fifteen thousandths or so deep.

I agree with you, Ron. I think we're in for another turbulent year in the stock market as well. I need to rebalance the allocation and build up some dry powder for when new taxes get levied, especially the capital gains taxes talked about during the election. But I also think there's going to be a surge in the economy once enough people get vaccinated and folks can reopen businesses and get back to work. That's probably a ways off, though, maybe we'll have something special to be thankful for come Thanksgiving this year?

While perusing the Vanguard website, I ran across a tool that's supposed to help you choose when to take Social Security, and I plan to look more into that during the upcoming rainy days. I have to file for Medicare this year, so that's on the homework list, too.

My stimulus was in my checking account when I checked, too. Along with more than enough bills to instantly wipe it out. Six hundred dollars doesn't go very far these days.

When I moved here, David, I purchased a cell phone booster from Wilson, who at the time (eleven years ago) seemed to have the strongest tech background. Now there are a lot of names I've never heard of, and not a few of them sound like fly-by-night Chinese (or worse) knockoffs. I'm curious to see what you come up with, now that 5G is rolling out here. FWIW, the inside antenna is at the opposite end of the house from my office, and doesn't do a very good job of providing cell signal in the office, some 45' and two walls away. Next time around, I'm going to try for an omnidirectional antenna located centrally in the attic.

Got the rest of the second pallet disassembled yesterday, and got a few cuts made for the next set of hoops. Cleaned up and put everything away, put a cover over the white motorcycle (all the rest already have their covers on), and used the new ChaChing blower to clean the metal dust off the driveway. Started off with only 1/3 charge in the batteries, and they were gone in just a few minutes at top speed. Had a freshly charged pair ready so kept right on going for another few minutes until I was finished, and the charge indicator was still reading full. Makes me wonder if the indicator display isn't very linear.

Today I'm gonna clean off the welding table before I start anything else. I've been working on the floor so far, and I'm too old to keep on doing that.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
