Happy B'day Roy!

Recovery continues. Just keep working on getting strength and endurance back. I am now bringing in wood and taking care of the wood burner. Handling the wood wears me out, but progress each day.

Everyone stay safe out there
Glad to hear you're gaining stamina. Are you gaining any weight back? I told my wifey you lost 45lbs in 3 weeks.

It may be a while yet before 5G networks are very wide spread, but the increased capacity they'll offer, as well as their higher speeds, will make for a better user experience. Just doesn't make any sense to me to buy a new phone that is already obsolete, especially since I tend to keep a phone four or five years.

I was thinking about all you Texans yesterday when I read about the big snow storm headed your way. Glad to not be reading about any of you having to shovel the driveway or drive in it.

Years ago I gave up using Quicken to manage a budget and track expenses, and I haven't balanced a bank statement in that long, either. Keeping paper receipts in yearly folders is as close to organized as I get these days.:ashamed:

Have you tried gen-u-wine Stihl chain, Kyle? Yeah, it's more expensive, but it holds an edge a lot longer, at least if I do my part and keep it out of the dirt. That includes dirt on the bark. I've seen Klim gear worn by the "heros" in several reality shows, but they never seem to wear it for long. Wonder why that is? The Kaiser Tool gal offered me two grades of carbide to choose from. I don't know carbide from my left elbow, so I asked her to pick for me and she chose D2. I guess we'll see when the ThinBits get here how well they work. Hope the rain sticks around for you, and I couldn't follow those Sherlock Holmes movies at all.:confused2:

Here's wishing you all a happy, prosperous, and healthy New Year!

Looks like the weather that hit Texas is dumping up youz guyz way. I doubt the stock market will do well this year, with stormy weather headed it's way....

We don't bother balancing accounts anymore either....it used to be a monthly ritual for me....double checking the bank.

Carbide chainsaw chain is probably the best for this old oak, but you can only sharpen it with special wheels. The oak is so hard, it doesn't burn well. :( You have to really stoke it.

Your D2 will serve you well, either flood it, or run it dry and slower.

This morning, I got a hysterical call from my DIL next door... she put their dog out as usual and he suddenly just keeled over...
By the time she got to him, he already passed...
That dog was very special to her, helping her get through some very tough times in her life over the last ten years. She is devastated.... a sad start to the new year.

So sorry. It's hard to lose a good dog. condolences.

Roast came out really nice

Wow, you guys and your wonderful prime ribs....So rare, a good veterinarian could have it back on it's feet in 10 minutes. I worked in a steak house during college. We sold plenty of prime rib. I liked mine soaked a minute in steaming aujus until medium well. No freaking horseradish for me either. Haha.

My wifey slow cooked (overnight) a pork shoulder, and then pulled it all off and made it into TexMex "carnitas". We put in in a flour tortilla like fajitas. Yummy. Also make a good pot of black eyed peas, and another of cabbage and onions cooked down.

Managed to stay up til 12:30 or so last night. I was chrome casting old music videos. Mostly from the '70's and '80's. INXS, Live, U2, The Call, The Cure, The Cars, lots of "C" bands back then. I was going to play Bow wow wow I want Candy, then thought better of it. :)

Cold and windy, so stayed in and watched TV by the fireplace on couch most all day.

I'm not shopping for new phones, just new service (bring your own phone), to see how cheap I can find on which brands network. You guys with your apples are too over priced for me.

Just finished the 1933 version of "The Invisible Man"...
Boy, love these old B&W classic movies! I'd watched "The Old Dark House" last night...that's a rare Boris Karloff flick(1931, I think) which I doubt many of you have seen..

Forecast for snow has increased to 5-8 tonight (hasn't started yet) with another 1-3 tomorrow...yippee!!

Out walking tonight and Gypsy alerted to a critter in the neighbors pasture behind their house.

At first I thought one of their goats pulled a houdini and got out of their pen.

After watching it, I realized it was a buck. But it was acting strange. It's hind end didn't appear to work correctly while it was walking. Hind end was hopping like a dog missing a hind leg.

Hard to tell though from a good distance with a flash light.

Not sure if someone made a bad shot during the holiday hunt or if it got clipped by a car.

Texted the neighbor so they could pop out and check on it.

Good evening all. 33F fir the start, 2 1/4 inch in rain gauge, overcast light wind. light to moderate wind, overcast all day, and high temp was 37F. Plan was for the Saturday Group to ride today, but stayed too cold and wet. Fed wood into the inset, refilled wood wagon and napped, otherwise conserved energy.

42F and cloudy @ 23:30, just had a little shower roll through a bit ago.

Woke up from a 3:45 hour nap around 10:45 ... the Spumante had put me to sleep ...

Went out to fill feeders ... bad idea as it was raining pretty good. Did get squirrel feeder, ear of corn, and two sunflower tube feeders filled but got soaked in the process. Hopper and deer feeders will need filled tomorrow.

After that I worked on the filling for the sausage dumplings, while The Woman did the dough. Used 1/2 roll of hot Bob Evans and 1/2 a roll of regular sausage initially. Started getting hungry around then so The Woman cooked up the other 1/2 roll of the hot sausage and we ate that for brunch. She had made up the spinach dip by that point so she had some of that as well. Ended up persuading her to allow me to mix in the 1/2 roll of the regular sausage for the filling:

She cut them up and then we shoehorned them into the pot and let them cook:

After a couple of hours I was hungry again, so I dove in:

And still ended up going back for seconds which - along with the Spumante - was what finally put me under the table ...

A couple of pork shoulder blade steaks, along with another jar of kraut, got tossed in the pot after some of the dumplings were removed and that was left to cook for a couple more hours. It's just now getting cool enough that I can think about sticking it in the fridge. Should be enough to take us well into next week ...

The Texas Sheet Cake did not get made ... might tackle that here in a little bit ... so she has a treat to wake up to in the morning.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable New Years Day.

Coffee is done brewing. 31° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 34° with some cloudy skies. Took Christmas tree down and put away. Called all the people I normally call on New Years day. Did not get much else done except watch rain, ice and snow fall. Did not get lobster cooked yesterday. Will cook it today. Ate leftovers instead. :licking: Cleaned back patio off this morning. Still need to do walkway to garage. Need milk. Short run get that today. Then spend rest of da conserving energy.
Michigan Covid cases 528,621. Deaths 13,018. Oakland County cases 61,195. Deaths 1,636. Test 8.6 million test in state. With a population of less than 10 million. Neighbor has had 5 test. All negative. State did not renew contracts for 2 emergency care facilities that were set up for over 2k patients.
Was getting ready to take a picture. When all the birds and squirrels rushed into woods. This is why.

David, RS, Popgadget, Buckeye, Drew and others are making it hard for me to loose 10 lbs in 2021.

LS, sorry to hear about DIL's dog. May it RIP.

RNG, I have one account that was set to run out of money this year. Today it has more money in it than it had at start of 2020. I get a monthly check from it. My money advisor picked that one right. Sure would like another year on that account like last year.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.
