Jim, glad to hear about improvement. More prayers. And for all covid patients.
Kyle, the law changed here a few years ago, we can no longer bury farm animals, they all have to go to rendering plants. "Old" for a tup is anything over 4 years, servicing an average of 40 ewes in a flock and then the same again with another flock must take it's toll.
My friend who owns the tups, which come here for a couple of months each year, picked the old guy up yesterday. Sheep are not at all spooked when one of their own kind dies naturally. I took this picture while I was waiting for his landrover to appear, only one is deceased, yet it is difficult to tell which one. If you want a clue to narrow it down - it is not one of those that are standing.
80 ewes in how much time??? Whew. Talk about dying doing something you love....
I'll bet your fingers are ready for a rest from the bricks too.
Mostly, yes I know about the small pin to clock the rings. And that the keystone ring goes into the top groove, with the stampings up. RNG, my buddy who gave it to me said to just put an oversize ring in it and trim the end gap....But I'm the one having to push start it.....so I'm going to put a correct fitting piston in it. I found a Yamaha piston on ebay. New old stock. Now need rings. So about $95 to get it a bit closer to good. May have to hone cylinder when I get piston in and measure it.
FINALLY! Scroll compressor at work is going, had to wait forever to get correct small pulley. It came in last week, but had to get some special metric bolts to help pull/put it back on. It was really tight on a shaft about 2" diameter. Anyway, I got the grooves cleaned with paint thinner, and then isopropyl alcohol. Only been a super long time since it was down. I scribbled on the side with a sharpie, new belt, small pulley, new hoses, cleaned radiator. 12,723 hours.
LOL, the 2hp dayton motor on my home SpeedAire just quit running some time ago. I had a large 1 hp dayton motor to put on it, and it works like a charm, with zero struggle to turn on. But just these 2 last weeks, a buddy and me took the 2hp apart at work, and it had mud dauber nests in it (they were horrible in the Lady's garage I got it from), and we gently cleaned it out. I put a used bearing I had handy on one end of it. Sure is nice having a machine shop at your disposal to sand bearing races on shafts and such. Now that motor needs a fresh rubber 3 wire service about a foot long.
PJ, hope your wife's guitar gets fixed, as well as her son's timeliness. A rainy Saturday sounds like a good time to visit an acoustic guitar shop.
Beautiful picture Ron, prayers for your son.
Prayers for Buppies, Bird , Margaret, and all our crew.....and for our Country.
Decided to do some shredding last night, because it was so nice outside. Upper 60's, light north wind. Got about 2 acres done, and filled some chug holes in our road.
I hope to work on Steiner "Beast" tomorrow.
RICK, where are you?
