Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:15AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 64F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day.
Maybe I missed it, Drew, but how do you fill up the bird feeders you're making? I'm following your lead and staying home for Thanksgiving, too. I'll miss seeing friends, but there's just too much chance of coming home with something I don't want. Tractor supply has "horse mats" that are good for shop use, but they're really heavy and awkward to move around.
Glad to see CV19 leveling off in your area, Bruce. It's still climbing here, and last week the governor issued a new 10PM-5AM curfew, along with two week quarantine for anyone coming into the state. Not sure that'll do much good as long as people keep ignoring the mask and distance requirements.
I don't think the bore/piston clearance will effect compression, Kyle, but you may get some piston slap if it's excessive. Was the carb off the intake manifold when you did the compression check?
Would the old freezer fit through the attic door if it was out of the box, Ted? If so, you could put it into a garbage bag after you got it up there and that would keep the dust off it. Only problem with the bags is you have to open them up to see what's inside when you forget what you put where...
Had to roll three tools out of the way before I could get to the hot water pressure washer yesterday, but finally got it out on the driveway and warmed up. Then under the VW to clean all the oil and dirt off the engine and transaxle. I think I got almost as wet as the engine did. Almost got that finished when the water went cold: Out of propane. I last filled the tank before I moved here, so that hundred pounds lasted more than ten years. Loaded the tank into the bucket on the tractor, rode it down to the propane tank out back, and filled it up. Came back up to the garage real slow and gentle like, rolled the filled tank back onto the pressure washer and didn't have to lift it at all. Finished VW, and gave the red dirt bike a wash, too. After I put everything back, I felt like I was done for the day and it was only 3 o'clock. Almost took a nap, but wandered around the yard with the T-Mobile modem looking for a stronger signal. It was nowhere to be found, and stopped working altogether even though I put it back in the same spot.:confused2: The tech support people are supposed to call me back today to tell me if they did anything to their antennas to improve reception, and I'm probably going to tell them to cancel the service. It's slower than the satellite, and now even less reliable. Next I'll try an AT&T reseller and see if that's any better. Body shop neighbor came over to sit next to campfire for a while. Nice way to end an evening, even if it was a little too brisk out there.
I left the tractor in the driveway so I can get a start today on installing the replacement top'n'tilt valves from FitRite. Be interesting to see how they compare size and mounting wise with the Kubota valves, and what I'll have to do to get them in place. I already know they're darn heavy, and I haven't even opened the box yet!
