If I had to guess, probably snow guards given the poster’s location.

built another birdfeeder, it looks a little nicer than the first one

Cranking them out ...

RS, with three bluejays and a squirrel, you will be kept mighty busy at that feeder.

LOL ... yeah, not looking forward to tromping out there once the snow flies and gets it really ... but what ya gonna do ?

Fortunately the bluejays seem to be mostly working the ground as the cleanup crew ... as the squirrels pick through whatever they pull out to find what they are really after.

I've already thought about adding a rail around the edge to see if I can reduce the fallout ...

The only birds I've see on the feeder itself are an occasional nuthatch or two.

I'm guessing that the squirrels are the ones that really put the hit on the feeder, .

Bluejays really are dominant alpha birds, nice to look at but no one else is getting a bite while they are there...

Yup ... but they don't seem too bad here ... everyone seems to get an opportunity.

Think that was the first time I have seen three of them at once ... usually no more than two.

39 and cloudy, headed down to overnight low of 33F.

Got some more boards cut for the roost box, both sides glued and screwed onto the bottom:

Need to go down here in a bit and do the same to the back panel.

Then figure out the size/placement of the entry hole on the front panel and drill it out.

Doesn't really show that well in the picture, but the roof slopes down two inches towards the front.

On the subject of pneumatic nailers, I bought these around 15 years ago as part of a set - finish nailer, brad nailer, 1/4" crown stapler, nylon carrying bag, and a small (1 1/2 HP ?) double tank, oil-lubed Craftsman air compressor which is removable from a wheeled stand:

Have no real complaints ... other than the air deflector on the finish nailer and the plastic tips on the brad nailer and crown stapler have crumbled (all came with spares as you can see in the picture)

The bodies are (supposedly) magnesium and are pretty lightweight/easy to handle ...

Hope everyone had a great day.

Good evening all. 53f for the start, overcast, light breeze. Weather guessers really missed forecast today. Only trace of rain, not near as windy, and temps all wrong. High temp at 12:01 AM 5F low temp 11:59PM 44F. Went to chapel this morning, we are singing at chapel again! Made breakfast for wife, then puttered on computer for while, bike ride window forecasted did not happen, so took a nap. Gopher activity was minimal, he ran into the caster oil/dishsoap and sulfur and quit. Watched Cowboy pull one out for a change.
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson unchanged.
Cooke County has started posting my community as a separate line even though we are not incorporated. There are 12 active cases in my community
Thomas thanks for the update, did not know bears like to mess with trees they can't climb
Buppies do not understand, what is newspaper durn. His latest work got him into soil that had the caster oil/dish soap mix as well as sulfur been quiet again
Paul I have days like that. I hate them
Drew good luck finding a nailer you are happy with. Hope they can open your Meeting soon, wife and I enjoyed getting back to chapel and we get to sing now too!
Ron nice moon shot, could not open attachment for tomato, TBN says invalid extension
Roy hope you have everything ready for snow
Bill good luck with trees.
Eric sorry to hear about your sheep. I am guess too cold for tuck pointing?
Randy hope day goes well congrats on selling the motorhome
RNG no vertigo remains, just the tinnitus, which was worse before vertigo. Will try and get ear looked at because still more tinnitus and muffling than normal. Good to new solar coming along good luck with bolts. Nice way to end day.
Kyle is the piston ring jammed in the groove? You know about the pin on 2 stroke piston grooves to keep ring gap away from ports?
Ted hope your progress continues and you get some rain.
David hope you got to enjoy your football.
RS kitchen cleanup important for this week :)
Randy and it is winter!
Bird I know nothing about Revitive products
Dennis sorry to hear about your leg pain
Drew must be nicer with window propped open. When I was tool maker always had rubber mat for floor.
Roy nice to hear new tractor will start better in cold weather.
Dennis hope you can get back to bible soon, Men's Meeting canceled till Jan 6 due to Covid issues.
Phil good to hear things are going well for you.
RS thanks for the review of the nailers. Always nice to have if they work, even if not an everyday usage on the tool.
prayers for all especially Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, David(moss)/remodel, RNG/fire, Ron/hearing/son, Jim/sister & family, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all.

56 and raining here this morning.

Yesterday was a good day, nothing crumbled in my hands.

UPS says my hydraulic top link from FitRite is coming today, FedEx says the same for the Makita cordless chainsaw. Of course I’ll be gone all day, so there will be presents under the tree for me when I get home.

Yesterday found me in the restaurant running a 30 amp 3 phase circuit to where they wanted to move the mixer to. It’s impressive to see a mixer that you can pour a 50 lb sack of flour into. It’s just like a giant scale version of the Kitchen Aid mixer that my wife uses. It must weigh 500 lbs.

good Monday morning all.
Raining out, surprisingly warm, about 60, with temps dropping all day as rain clears out at noon for nice sunny afternoon.
I'm headed to Audi dealership this morning to get car inspected and then back to make another bird feeder.

The more I think about it, less likely I am to make the trek to brother's home in VA for Thanksgiving. With two week mandatory quarantine requirements, or
Covid test within 3 days of returning, I'm still looking at a minimum of 5-6 days of not being able to go anywhere until test results come back.
I think I'll wait until mandatory quarantine is lifted, which realistically isn't going to be anytime soon since the holidays will raise the counts even more.
My brother completely agrees. Will miss the occasion, was really looking forward to it. As the headlines say this morning, we have a pass for getting together to feel thankful...but
in my case, I am enormously thankful I got my health back. Otherwise it was a year of huge challenges, sickness, selling the farm, moving, starting over.
On Thanksgiving I will still open a bottle of wine and give a toast to being thankful. I never drink alone so this is a change for me.

Rick, hope you are doing ok. Jay, you too.
Phil, you are inspiring us all to get moving on the Christmas lights.
There isn't one outside receptacle on this house so I had to resort to solar powered, but they work pretty well actually.
Will wait for a sunny day closer to turkey day to put them up.
RS, what bird is coming to roost? I built one of those roosting boxes while in NC, and no one came but spiders. I might not have installed
it at the right height. Mine even had two small picture windows on each end...might have made it too fancy.
