Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs, How do you do it?

I usually boil 4-6 eggs, put in refrigerator. Pick one out, put on flat surface, roll with a bit of pressure and the shell usually peels off in big chunks.

If you don't need the egg whole, IE you want it split down the middle for deviled eggs or making soft boiled- easiest to cut the egg in half through the shell. Scoop it out with a teaspoon. Eggs peal easier put in a steamer or boiling water from the start. Hard boiled ~ 12 minutes. A nice soft boiled 6, 6 1/2 minutes. then in an ice bath for a minute or 2 if you want them hot.

We do. Used to buy pickled Jalapenos by the gallon; when the peppers got low, Sharn Jean would boil a bunch of eggs and put them in the jar with the Jalapenos...in a week or so, they were wonderful...with beer (Although I haven't eaten any in a long time, I love pickled pig's feet...with beer!)

Well I made pickled eggs yesterday and used the mason jar technique to peel the eggs. I can't believe I have been picking those little bits of shell off hard boiled eggs all these years. 1 week and I get to taste the results. :egg: :licking: :egg:

^^I know, I did the same mason jar trick for the first time today too. My wife saw me at the sink shaking the heck out of a egg in a jar and thought I had lost my marbles! It worked! :cool2:

And the best thing about the mason jar trick is I did not need to buy anything.

I have used that technique to peel garlic cloves; just put them in a jar (no water), put the lid on, and shake for about 30 seconds or so, and they will peel with ease!

I still mash them with the side of my chefs knife, then peel them. Old habits are hard to break. :D
