Good morning All! We closed up our place in NY this week. Spent a lot of time there this year. No wifi there means that we chew through cell data pretty quickly. I miss you guys and all of your “goings on”.

A peek at this year’s big project- residing the building with steel siding. We took our time and had fun with it. IMG_1298.jpg
Looking forward to getting current with the gang and contributing more frequently.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 8:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High near 95F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Wind blew in the 15-20MPH range most of yesterday, overnight, and is threatened to do the same today. The Red Flag Warning was supposed to expire this morning, but has been extended to this evening instead. Several good sized fires started in the area yesterday, one on the north side of Oroville, but all were quickly contained. I hope the firefighter's luck continues.

My buddy ran into a fair amount of road construction in the mountains, and didn't roll in until about 5 PM, but that turned out to be good timing as it let me finish the valve cover project I'd started in the garage. Grilled a couple nice pork chops on the grill, fresh salad with the makin's he brought, and wild rice. Then catching up with land clearing adventures; he's even more rural than I am and has a lot more trees to deal with. Says he can't give the wood away fast enough.

Not sure what's on the agenda today, but he was suggesting a motorcycle campout on the coast, but it looks too windy for me and I won't leave until the power comes back on anyway.

48F and sunny @ 11:00 ... that's up from 39F and change earlier. High headed up to 55F.

Currently no wind ... but I don't think I want to be outside blowing leaves right now ...

Low tonight predicted to be 33F ... so we could get a freeze. Sounds like Ron has already had his first freeze.

Fedex just dropped off the new yoke I ordered from Rural King ... it dropped shipped direct from Weasler ... very impressed with the turnaround on that ...

Probably head up to shop here in a few minutes and get a fire started to warm things up.

Then start piecing things back together on the blower.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

I need to start searching for a new utility trailer, for whichever UTV we buy, to replace the previous 12' x 77". The side x sides are all about 13 1/2' long so .. a 14' trailer.

Heck Rick, a real red neck could haul 13.5' sideXside with an 8 foot trailer. Or for that matter a real red neck could tie it on top of their Corolla with bailing twine.

Chris

True that Chris. I’ll try harder .. but don’t own a Corolla.

Rick, I got confused on the price I mentioned, they were $21,999 stock show.

Thanks Kyle. I don’t want doors on mine. I want to be able to jump on and off while working. Not sure I even want a windshield on one.

71°F and no rain. Front moving in from west likely to bring some later

Pig squeal woke during the night. Couldn’t help but hope it was one charging to get under the fence and came upon my fix, maybe even one of the little sharp pointy twisted wires. So comforted I went back to sleep.

Somehow the one Wi-Fi node I mounted on the roof became isolated and disconnected. Have to get back on the roof to physically reset ☹️

Going up to tenants house build this afternoon for a socially distant pizza celebration.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Ron, BEE YOU TEE FULL picture of crane. Thank you. Yesterday's fall trees were beautiful too.

Rick, enjoy gd visit....(she really wants to come drive your vette hee hee) :)

Phil, I hate to hear that about your knee. I've not had a replacement, but M/C wipe outs have my knees less than normal.

PJS, I'll have to give the Dream Theater a listen.....hadn't heard that in a long time.

Lower 60's and windy here. Eric, Please come over and walk outside....we need rain.

Drew, it sounds overall like your enjoying your new leaf.

My 10 year old son has had the sniffles/constant throat clearing hack for a few days, and they sent him home yesterday because he said he had a headache and sore throat. We got him Covid tested just now and it was negative. The school was more relieved than we are. Anyway, I used his "sick day off" to take him to get our flu shots.

And I voted today....no line.

Frank, nice to hear from you and nice job on the siding. C'mon back...
RS, hope that yoke works well for you

my oh my is PA car insurance more expensive than NC, like 50 percent more. Gulp. Homeowners and umbrella were the same but car insurance was a shocker.
came back to find bunch of packages sitting under overhang in pouring rain, got them in before they got too wet. Wall mount for tv came so can get the new tv put up tomorrow.

had nice visit with elderly MIL on way home, she loved her chocolates and scrounged up some stew for my lunch. We didn't talk very much about my meat restricted diet...
I'm ready for a nap.

Wow, that siding looks great. How hard was it to put on? Did you have it done?

Sounds like fun, but I'm not much of a camper, especially if it's windy. .... keep us posted on the air cooled rebuild.

car insurance increase probably to cover the higher rates of auto thefts in PA...just a guess.

MY insurance in PA is a lot less than it was across the river in NJ.
My property tax in PA is about 1/2 what is was in NJ.
Gas price is high.
Been in PA over 4 years (my wife is a local) and do not miss NJ one bit.
Traffic by me is mostly sightseers and local so can go quite a while with no cars out on the main road.
Rain has turned my area into mud, so need to find something to do inside.

thinking about a flail mower for my little tractor, so many areas overgrown and want to clean up. many with 1-2" saplings and bushes.
think is would take too long just with the toothbar, and don;t want to rent anything since I can only use it a few hours a day

Wife's new favorite cookie:
Banana Oatmeal Fitness Cookies | Ready in 25 mins

We had a few bananas getting old and since It boast only two ingredients why not . . . I did add the optional ingredients, walnuts, raisins, toasted sesame seeds and cinnamon.

You really don't need the extra cholesterol and fat most other recipes call for (eggs and butter) to make a good cookie.

   / Good morning!!!! #120,353
TXDon that recipe looks easy enough even I could do it. thanks for sharing.

Kyle -"Wow, that siding looks great. How hard was it to put on? Did you have it done?"

No Kyle, we did it ourselves. Wifey and I installed from the bottom to about 1 board above the 1st floor windows. Then a good friend let me borrow some very sturdy ladders and ladder jacks and he and I finished the upper portion in 4 days! I'm very happy with the quality of the siding. See the product here ... Trulog™ Siding - Steel Log Siding Designed To Make Your Home Feel Natural And Rustic.

Thanks for the nice comment!

This one would work with your Massey:
Caroni 47 Inch Flail Mower-Flail Mower | Agri Supply 53412

I have the 73" Caroni mower...but I also have 40+ PTO HP. The one in the link will work with 20 PTO HP.
Had mine for three mowing seasons and a mow a field of about 4 acres...mostly just grasses. I have mowed bamboo with it too...does a nice job, but it won't be a lawn
You'll want to cut the saplings as close to the ground as you can...a flail mower isn't going to take them down...
