I like .325 full chisel, is that picture suppose to show a difference in LPX and LGX, both look same to me.........

Both full chisel, LPX has the extra bumper and shorter raker. New LGX no bumper but longer raker. Just look closer.

Heres a real world review on a Stihl clone, a Holzfforma G660, seems like a good buy but I'm still leery....

Dont buy off ebay IMO. I ordered mine straight from FT. But I also work on saws. So I wasnt scared.

I have friends that are dealers of them here in US so you can buy from a dealer that will back the saws for you. Plus a real dealer for them will go through and check the saws over before you get them.

Me trying to find the differnce between chains without a clue was like me trying to find the arrow in FEDX, so whats the bumper for why not just the raker?

What is FT, need another clue... I'm not buying any more big saws, my Jonsered 2171 should last another 10 years.

 FarmerTec I never heard of that site before, funny how other parts of country can come up with different web sites, I'll save that just incase my 2171 goes down for the count.

Is 25' bulk chain worth it if only using two chains/year, right now I coming into my busy cutting season but>>@$40.00 of S&H I dont think it is for me, maybe I better stay with single loops see where that goes......

But if it was worth it how many 18" bars will a 25' of bulk saw chain do.... Since both my 550xp and Echo 501p take 74 drive links, what they should say is how many drive links on a 25' saw chain, or is that anther un-answerable question like why am I here, who am I, is the world round.............

Been wanting a joncutter G3800 38cc trimsaw since I seen one. It is a clone of the zenoah made redmax 3800 I owned years back.

Bolt on cylinders like a pro saw. Not a clamshell design.

The air filter top looks like Echo, gas caps look like old husky stile and with both caps side by side that looks like I never seen before, unusual. I waiting for the next generation of electric start chainsaws, Mcculloch really dropped the ball on that,,,,,

Looks like the LPX is a low-kickback chain.

The LGX is not.

That extra "bumper" is not a depth gauge, its what makes it a low kickback.

The depth gauge is on the SAME link as the cutter tooth.

The low kick-back "bumper" if you look at the two rivets it attaches too, is forward. As the chain goes around the nose of the bar....it pitches up and makes the cutter unable to bite.

You cannot plunge cut very well with the LPX....but it results in less kickback

Unfortunately, the red line in the photo hides the detail making it hard to see the "bumper" is on a separate link.

The depth gauge aka raker is not the same on the LPX and LGX cutters as mentioned. Look at both. They are totally different shapes on the cutters themselves.

I dont really notice any difference in how depth gauges are shaped.

But certainly notice a difference with low-kickback chain like the LPX....like when plunge cutting.

That second tip or bumper or whatever you feel like calling it, is NOT a depth gauge. And in "theory" only comes into play as the chain passes over the nose of the bar.....due to its different pivot points allowing it to kick up HIGHER than the cutting tooth and prevent cutting/kickback at the bar tip.

This is a pretty good illustration

I sure wished I knew someone I could give Dad's (rip) chainsaws to. I'm sure they're not worth anything, all Craftsman from 70s-90s, some he took apart. Free..but someone would have to pick up. South central Virginia.
I hate to throw things away.

Talking only about the cutter with the raker in the front only.

NOT talking about the little lpx bumper you keep bringing up. Just the raker on the cutters are totally different. So simple to see that.

I wish they would use the LPX cutter and raker design on the new 325 LGX chassis. Be back to old school chains again.

What I see is the LPX raker is narrower and easier to file down with one swipe, I also see they both have oil holes in drive links and thats more important to me, other then which one stays sharper longer, then Stihl chain wins.......

Bingo.

Thats how we used to make the newer chains cutters for race chains on the rakers. To get them like that on the LPX cutters.
