Poured first cup of coffee. 44° with light rain. Heading to 55° with a few showers. .06" rain so far. Got out and flew drone yesterday. But colors have not changed enough for great fall pictures. No plans for today. Good day to conserve energy.
Took this picture yesterday morning. There was a light fog which made the halo.

Roy, glad you are getting the tractor. Join the crowd of us that have posted in the wrong thread. :ashamed:

Randy, " Had a good visit, my youngest grandson kept hugging me every few minutes, I asked him why so many hugs, he said because I love you pop pop! Made the long ride worth it for sure." :cloud9::thumbsup:

Drew, hope you get out for a walk today.

Mostly, one drone picture. You should take Don up on his offer. Gray2 will get the job done.

Luther, a little early to think about snow removal. But post are starting to show up in "pictures of your snow weapon".

Buppies, wife and I did southern of the Blue Ridge Parkway many years ago. Great ride. My son and 2 GD's invited me to join them later this month at a house they have rented in that area. But just not up to driving 600 miles by myself.

Thomas, I have that picture also. Use it on my son when he has a failed hunting trip.

Buckeye, writing and giving a sermon. So many talents here on this thread.

RNG, progress on Van. Hope the smog test goes good.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Sounds like nice time.

Wife and I are talking about taking a drive next week, just the 2 of us. Probably head north, as leaves will be peaking that direction.
Been wanting to go to peaks of otter. Don’t think I ever stopped there. There’s a place up along the blue ridge where they have a narrow gauge RR exhibit. We like to stop there.

51F and cloudy @ 08:30, high headed up to 63F. Calling for periods of light rain throughout the day.

Had a nice fire up in shop in stove yesterday, got up to a toasty 83F. Neighbor was out mowing, had him come by to have a look at something on the blower, said it was cold out and was glad to get warmed up ...

Got second hub disassembled and degreased, most of rust knocked off with the needle scaler. Removed deflector on the output and took it apart ... it's bent up and cracked, so straightening it and welding it up will (theoretically) be on the menu today. Doesn't appear that I have the sheet metal to fab up the missing portion of the deflector but the shop is a mess and something might still turn up ...

Also took guard/cover off chain drive ... bottom sprocket is a little worn, but not so bad that it's unusable. Chain is loose, so I may get into adjusting that today.

Another thing - which I had neighbor stop by to have a look at - is that one of the u-joints had a gap between the top in one of its caps and the outside retaining ring in the yoke that is supposed to hold it in. Thought that maybe it was the wrong u-joint or something. Figured it out after he left - one arm on the yoke is actually bent. So that will need replaced ... probably along with the cross itself. Try to get that taken off today so I can take it in to Akron Bearing tomorrow morning.

Probably also remove the top of the blower housing today just so I can have a look down in there and make sure there isn't any crap inside (took out what looked like some mouse nest debris when I got the deflector off ...)

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Good morning to all! Low of 36, now up to 40 at sunrise. High today forecasted for 76. No rain forecasted at all!

Took an easy day yesterday, only a couple of projects. We have a room to room transfer fan setup for when we use the pellet stove. The factory cords between the two fans was about 30" too short to allow optimal placement. I took them down and added the correct amount of wire to get them where I wanted Them placed. Wasn't too hard, just more time consuming to do it right. They are ready for use now.

Then moved the trailer to in front of the shop in preparation to do the bearings. Just then, the middle son walked over and said "I'll do the bearings... piece of cake!". So, he got into them. No damage to the bearings, just needed re-packed. Whole job for both sides took him about 45 minutes. He sure saved me the time to do them plus I probably would have purchased bearings that were not needed. Today, I'm now going to take the deck boards off.

I'll probably add some reinforcements to the frame along with some weld on D-rings for tie down points before I put the new decking on.

Everyone have a great day!

52°F and cloudy this morning, only going up to 58° today. Clouds are supposed to disappear sometime after noon, which will let the temps fall down around 32° tonight. Our first freeze of the season. Need to remember to disconnect and drain the hoses this evening.

Intermittent rain lasted much of the day yesterday. Had a few brief power outages in the late afternoon. Not sure why, as all the heavier stuff stayed north of us. Naturally, it had to happen while I was making some programming changes in the studio. All three times. So it goes.

Wife sent me pictures of her, her son, and his girlfriend kayaking on the San Marcos River yesterday. She's having a blast with them down there.

More great pics, Ron.

40° at daybreak with a little frost on rooftops, very little. 69 later today.

Ron, I saw the moon rise last night on the way home, maybe not full but it sure looked big on the horizon.

Church service online today for us, had some things to do plus tired from the trip.

Got a message yesterday that some people are setting up a reunion next April for the guys that raced go karts from 1965-1970 in the Tidewater area of Virginia and the Albemarle region of NC. Apparently over 60 RSVP’s already and over 30 found deceased. 55 years is a long time. I can’t even imagine running over 100 mph at 2” off the ground, or staying sideways on the dirt for 25 laps, young me was braver and more pliable.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 9:00AM. Sunny. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High near 90F. Winds light and variable.
AQI 104 and 255, inside and out. Put the air purifier in night mode, which lowers the fan speed, and it had trouble keeping up with the dirty air coming down the canyon from the fire. Now in auto mode, the fan is on full blast. So somewhere between the 2 and 10 setting is a happy medium where it doesn't sound like a jet takeoff yet still cleans the air...

I think we all spent a lot less time thinking things through when we were young, Randy.

Hope the new blower continues to pass inspection, RS. Something that old has had ample opportunity for the wrong kind of things to happen to it over the years.

Neighbor got the shaft I made for him installed yesterday, but the mill wasn't at his house so I didn't get a chance to see it. Everything fit, and he must have found a spare key, so all's well that ends well.

Yesterday I stopped next to a pile of fluff in the driveway when I went up to get the mail. It had been there for a day or two, and when I looked closer at it, it was sheep hide. I'm guessing that the neighbor has one less animal in his flock, and that there's a well fed mountain lion out there somewhere.

Alternator swap went OK until I tried to tension the belt. The new one has a smaller pulley on it so it runs faster at lower RPMs, but there wasn't enough swing in the adjuster to allow for the smaller diameter. Swapped pulley from original alternator to get it going, but will take another look at the adjuster today to see if it can be modified to work with the smaller pulley.

Spacers for the Kubota wheels showed up yesterday, and I unpacked the new oscilloscope and let it run for a while before calibrating the probes. Seems fine, maybe this afternoon I'll make some measurements and see how the file transfer goes. Not sure what else I'll get into today what with the bad air outside.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

LS, maybe your son can do my trailer bearings next?
I have never checked them, but also rarely use the trailer and never taken it far.

69°F and 0 rain

Talked with my dealer yesterday in hopes my oiler cooler had arrived, it hadn’t. Assured me it has been shipped. Suggested that when it arrives if he can schedule immediately I might just pick it up and install myself as I really wouldn’t like to get more than another week behind.

Got 2 side walls framed up on caretaker unit. Maybe get the end wall today.

Picked last of my corn and more tomatoes and a couple of peppers. Not sure the peppers got to full size but they are good.

May watch some football, haven’t looked at schedule.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

It would take me that long to just clean and repack the bearings,
of course that's because I still hand pack bearings. I do have a grease gun tool that is
designed to pack bearings which I almost never use. If I'm going to be greasing a lot of bearings
"more then 6 or so" I will get it out of it's bag that it is stored in and grease all of the bearings,
then I will verify that they are completely greased by hand packing to make sure it flows through the bearing.
It is difficult to do a better job of greasing a bearing then hand packing when done carefully.
