Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #119,841
Good morning, we have had some very wet weather these last few days and it is hammering down again today.

Fortunately the clouds eased up yesterday afternoon, giving us chance to take a welly walk through a couple of fields with daughter and family. The soon to be 3 year old again amused himself by arranging stones on top of some wooden posts that I once placed on a "temporary" basis to block an outflow on a drainage pipe. When we got back inside his dad found this picture of his elder brother doing exactly the same thing 8 years ago. With Covid cases rising and control measures increasingly tightened, it may be quite a long while before we see them again.

Phil, hope you are not reading "Good morning" instead of working hard on your last day in the office. ;)

Great family pics BEF ! Who stole the rails ?

The best bearings I ever saw were when I was an apprentice at an electric motor manufacturer. Ancient motors with phosphor bronze bushings would run happily for many decades with not a sign of wear. They said we only got them in for bearing repair some years after a maintenance engineer died or retired and no one else thought to oil them.

54 this AM, heading to lower 60's. Had a shower move through.

Good luck with the estimates, Buppies.

We are still looking for an electrician. Two stopped by within the last month. Neither delivered their promised estimates after both said they could do the job. Neither return phone calls or texts. One was just spotted at the neighbors who recommended him.

More real work and an Xray on tap later today. Sigh....My rotator cuff is stopping me from reaching out. LOL. Well it's not really funny, but it sure reads that way.

Hope all have a pleasant start to the work week. Be safe, be careful in whatever you accomplish today.

47 right now...high in the mid-60's

My back is a bit achy from yesterday's work....

Now there is a good excuse to 'conserve energy' today.

39°F and headed for 52. Wind calm. A mix of sun and cloud.

Have a safe day all

Good morning all.
55 out now going up to 75 on a nice Fall day, mostly sunshine.
No rain until weekend and I'll be gone by then...and thankfully forecast on Saturday is dry where I'm going.

Riptides, it seems like the basics of business aren't given much attention or value today; i.e. returning phone calls within one day, showing up when you say you will, etc.
The guy who was supposed to do my moving promised me a quote, then said he had some kind of emergency, then said he was interested, blamed not getting a quote on his secretary when I doubt he has one, and never did get me a quote. This was a Uship guy I had used before and will never again. Versus a local company who responded immediately and could not have been more professional and nice. Of course then my friends said they would move me, so best I could do is give the local movers a nice Google review, and they responded with great appreciation for that.
If folks don't call back within 24 hours, I go someplace else. Sorry for your frustration.

cooking some veggie link sausage this morning with eggs. Consistency is a little soft but taste is good and zero grams saturated fat. I'll get plenty of that from the eggs...

Eric, very nice picture of grandson. Nice memories.

Hope the start of the week is good for everyone.

Poured first cup of coffee. 39° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 58° with partly cloudy skies. Conserve energy day went very good. Headed over to friends place to help him get his ski boat out of the water this morning. That should fill the day.
Going to be interesting in Michigan for the next few days. MI. Supreme Court told our Governor that all the Executive Orders she has issued since late April are illegal. Along with the laws she was using are unconstitutional. :confused3:
I wasn't the only one conserving energy yesterday.

Eric, good GS picture.

Riptides, good luck with arm.

Buppies, I must have done to many naps yesterday . Did not sleep well either.

Mostly, yellow is Hickory, red is Maple.

LS, have your son stop by my place on way East. My trailer needs bearings packed. :D

Buckeye, sorry GBS is keeping from enjoying the best time of year for camping.

Phil, last day of work.    :thumbsup:

David, hope your parts for tractor show up soon.

Everyone one be healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

52 going to 70.

Been out for a Coco walk (and looking for skunks - the times on my trail cams are so inconsistent that I expect to see it in the yard anytime)...nice stars/planets.

Riptides, hope the rotator problem eases up for you. I've been please with our HVAC service, so learned that the same company does plumbing and electrical...when I needed a plumbing emergency fixed, couldn't get the previous plumber to call back, so gave them a shot and they came that same day with great work. I'll definitely go to them for electrical if I need it...James River Air Conditioning...but doubt they go as far north as you.

Buppies, sounds like a great drive on the Parkway. We'll be back up that way later this week. Hope you get the jobs you bid.

Eric, I still enjoy playing with rocks, but not sure I have that wonderful look on my face.

My wife cut my hair again yesterday...I told her best haircut I ever had...and meant it. You ever have a surge protector just die while you're watching TV? No surge, etc. I guess the "joules" just wear out. Hard to find one without at least some scary reviews. But I did order a new one, should be here today...drilled a new hole in the built-in shelf and rewired some stuff and did a deep clean in preparation.

mpham.
"Tomorrow will be my last day into the office. I will drop off my phone and laptop and sign out from all my files etc. My guys have decided to take me out for breakfast as a last goodbye. (I can pretty much only eat eggs, rice or chicken right now with my throat/stomach issues)"
-----------------------

Now your at the end of the tunnel and bright light also warm, enjoy the slow roll to work and reflect over the years...tomorrow you'll start new chapter in life...might take some months before it really sinks in that your truly retire. ;)

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 92F. Winds light and variable.
AQI 41 and 161, inside and out. Looks like fan setting number 4 is enough to do the job on the air purifier, and I can't hear it from the bedroom.
From the reports, it sounds like the fire crews are finally "going direct" on the fire's edges, trying to put it out. But they're still cutting new fire lines, and widening old ones, in preparation for next weekend's storm. So far, winds in the canyon are predicted to stay under 10 MPH, and they'll be blowing from the southwest, away from here. :crossfingers: it stays that way.

Did some shopping online yesterday, and ended up with a new fire helmet and another set of Nomex duds. And a strainer for the 2 1/2" suction line, and what is supposed to be a universal spanner wrench for the hose fittings. Also a fire hood. Even found a place on ebay to buy windshield washer fluid that's good below freezing, something that is somehow illegal to purchase in Kalifornia. I've tried other outfits before, and always end up with the order cancelled, so fingers crossed it goes through this time.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

I've got 6 gallons of -40F ww juice. You need to travel to a state where the temps get below freezing and buy there.

Billy, MOV's (metal oxide varistors) can wear out over time, you never know when since surges are silent and you usually don't know when they occur. Think of it as cumulative trauma.

It gets down into the 20s most every winter here, which makes it even harder to understand why the ban. Not everybody lives in San Diego or LA...

Good morning to all! Low of 50, going for 82, no rain.

Yesterday I was able to get the deck all cut off of the trailer, my sons loaded it all with some other stuff and took it to the dump. Perfect timing.

Broke out the grinder yesterday and cut some angle iron reinforcements to fit on the trailer. Definitely could feel the frame stiffen with them just clamped in place. Need a few final adjustments, then I'll weld them on. I'm going to check prices today to see if diamond plate is in the spectrum of affordable. Pressure treated lumber has over doubled in price. If the steel is even another 50% higher, it would surely be worth it.

As usual, too many things going on with you guys! Thank goodness for Mostly's recap of events!

I hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Good morning! 56˚F heading to the low 80s, a cold front came through as I was planting the Fall garden yesterday evening. I do not think the temp dropped just a change of wind direction and less humidity.

I have 144' of kale, broccoli, and beets ( 6 rows@24'). I bon't like beets but put in a food processor with their greens they make a good base for our veggie hamburger patties.

RNG when I had the just below freezing windshield washer fluid in the Subaru in the no door garage in the country, it froze and cracked all the tubing going to the windshield and they had to be replaced. Now I'm like you and look for the fluid that has the lower freeze limit, but at least it is legal in Texas.

The weather stripping repair was not as anticipated the ear plug fillers were not quite the right size and when cut were too small. So I just meticulously glued the narrow edges together - so far it is holding. Thanks for the tip in the contact glue RNG.

Starting this week no reservations are required in the workout room and pools. They will just have a limit to keep people spaced, facemask, and wipe down before and after use and close every other hour for a 30 minute deep cleaning/sanitizing. It was hard to make reservations a week in advance because things always come up.

Good morning 48 going up to 61 (no hypens today ) No rain in the forecast.
Took out the Spruce stump, then wife wanted the bush behind it removed. All done and now have 7 foot wide by three foot deep hole for the new Oriental spruce which should be dropped off in a week or so.
Went to a place called Terhune in NJ to get some wine, a pumpkin and a carmel apple for the kid.

RNG - glad the EGR is working-I can;t remember how many of these I replaced on my cars in the 80/90s , the diaphrams would always stick on gm cars
Roy - New tractor and cab - that should be fantastic this winter!
Randy - now that is a visit to remember, family can be great, kids grow so fast-mine is a teenager now-so embarrassed by us
Phil - last office day :cool2:
Eric - good you got some time with the little one- looks really happy with his rock placement.
Ron - birds look very relaxed and waiting for you to take their picture.

Bent up front of mower deck-will need to remove and bang it out, not sure what I hit.
Will do one more fire for the oak stump and that one should be good to bury-have dirt piles in place.
Purchased 2 steel raised garden beds from Northern tools- will see how good they are and put into use next spring in a place that gets more sun than where I currently have my veggie plot

30°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 64° today. Frost on everything this morning, except the grass under the trees. Our first dip below freezing today will be followed by mid 80s on Wednesday.

Mostly_, the recording computer, monitor speakers, and interface - all the stuff on the desk - are all on a UPS. The Helix processor, which was what I was programming, gets power from an adjacent wall. One of my projects for this week is to build a small shelf under the desk to raise the stuff stored under there and allow room for the Helix underneath. Once there, it will run from the UPS as well. I do still need to get another UPS for the opposite wall, for the synthesizers and electronic drums brain. Then, everything that's essentially a computer will be protected from power outages and voltage dips.

What a great story, Eric. It's amazing that a young man will do the exact same thing as his older brother did years before he was even born.

50F and "fair" @ 10:00, headed up to a high of 59F with a mix of sun and clouds.

Spent most of the day up in the shop working on blower and doing a little cleanup sweeping the floor.

Got chain and small sprocket removed from shaft on blower fan. Chain seems like it is decent shape, there was a little slop with the key and sprocket, so will need to check that out ... but the slot in the shaft did not appear worn.

Also removed the upper fan cover ... things looked mostly good there as well ... with the exception of the fan being covered with dried greasy residue and the expanded metal for the rear inlet screen being slightly bent.

Cleaned the grease out of the tapered roller bearings for the wheels.

Used the rosebud torch to heat up the two parts of the deflector and straighten them out somewhat. Have some more to do on that, including welding the one part that is cracked.

Have not gotten the yoke off the input shaft yet ... having trouble getting a hex key into the set screw, probably due to rust.

Also did some clean up over in the wood/compost lot with the box blade and hauled a couple more bucket loads of mulch down while the sun was out.

Hopefully get yoke off shaft today ... and then head into Akron Bearing to see if they can match up the yoke and seals for wheel bearings.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...
