A good friend of mine is going to the Baseball playoff bubble to work the playoffs and the world series. He works for the TV crew. He's excited because he's a baseball nut. Next 3 weeks or so. He's having to use 20 days of vacation from his "real" job.

Good evening all. 48F for the start, partly cloudy, windy. Windy day again today, sly cleared off, and high temp was 81F. Warmer tomorrow then cold front comes through. Not enough rain in 10-day to forecast any amounts :( Bike ride later in morning because of the cold start, then weed eat and nap.

We're up to 4 days in the Ten Day now where they're calling for better than a 25% chance of rain ... and 25+ mph winds for tomorrow ... :(

Nap good though ...

Could not handle the "debate" :mur:

I had it on ... was only half-listening though ...

RS hope you have some inside work

Always ...

RS ok I'll bite, what is it, a leaf blower?

Yup ... leaf/debris blower ...

   / Good morning!!!! #119,523
Hope the new ladder is light enough for you, RS, but my experience is that size is all I can handle by myself, and I have to be real careful not to let it fall on my head.

Yeah ... it's quite an improvement over the 28' fiberglass one ... weighs about 1/2. There were a couple of times that one almost got away from me ... without extra help from The Woman it would have.

Hope the fires subside and you get some rain.

Stay safe.

Coffee has finished brewing. 50ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 63ー with a chance of some sun in afternoon. Got .16" of rain. Enough to keep me in all day yesterday. Yesterday's list is still good for today.
Let Sassy out yesterday afternoon. She found a squirrel in yard and chased it up yard light pole. All of sudden she is going to start protecting her yard. No picture yet.
Was cleaning up my file of flower pictures. This one caught my eye.

That one is a beauty ...

Mostly, I sure hope they are migrating. I will not be able to afford the amount of seed they eat.

I hear ya ...

I just picked up 12 lbs of nyjer at TSC this afternoon ... wee-o ...

Thankfully it should last 3 or 4 months.

RS, I know about that too heavy a ladder.

Yeah ... it ain't no fun :(

Is that a piece of new concrete, David?

Very handsome!
Thanks
Na, just 3/4 ext ply on 2x joists. Decided to give it a coat of deck paint to protect a bit as it will be awhile before completely closed in. Will be covered with some sort of flooring eventually.

A bit of clarification. My friend did take advantage, but not in negative way. Originally he was only getting the air compressor, tool chest and some hand tools for which she told him how much, but he insisted on paying more. When we were picking those up, she kept suggesting he take more, like the pressure washer, Dewalt kit etc. I don’t think she has much appreciation of the value. Can’t have a yard sale due to covids and understand what doesn’t go by time she puts house on the market will be donated.

Good morning,
winter is coming, I can feel it.

My Northwestern tour came to an abrupt halt yesterday. My trailers are in a secure location (more or less) and I am at the house for the next 10 to 11 days.

good morning all.
Despite my best intentions to watch debate, I fell asleep reading my book, so watched reruns this morning. Oh my...

The weather however is very encouraging, I see sunny skies predicted for 8 out of 10 next days, highs in low 70's and nights in low 50's,
which is normal October weather here. 62 out now, going up to 72 today in bright sunshine.

Gave my vacate notice to campground owner, while having a nice chat with his father who was running a mini-ex. All the equipment, mostly Cat, has their name on it, so apparently the father
has had his own excavation company for many years, and together they will be doing all the site work more than doubling the size of this campground. Father has immense somewhat wild white beard, though underneath that he is soft spoken and very friendly. Truly a don't judge a book by the cover guy. I'm here on their monthly rate, which is an amazingly low 375 a month, lowest in area, and am curious if I leave half way through the month will they pro-rate that or what. Some places don't give refunds on monthly rates, am pretty sure these folks will. Father told me township was now requiring them to pave all their roads instead of using gravel, so they are going to buy a used paver and do it themselves. They also mentioned putting in concrete pads at the sites, which would be nice. I track a lot of sand in, almost as bad as being at the beach.

Going to buy a hair dryer today and go to work on frozen fins inside refrigerator. Too much food in there still to turn it off for a day,
but I heard it running and running and no wonder with half the fins iced over.

RS, good luck with that big blower, what a howl that must make, definitely wear ear protection

I'm having trouble getting 6 hours of sleep, mainly due to BPH.
Kyle, like many of us, I have BPH too, and Flomax/Tamsulosin works great on it.
It's the "frequency" problem I have that makes me lose sleep.
I asked the urologist on Monday whether any diet changes might help.
He said what is basically heart healthy will be urinary healthy.
I looked this up online and suggested foods are:
Salmon
Tomatoes
Berries
Broccoli
Nuts
Citrus
Onions and garlic

Since I already eat all of them, not sure what I can do.
But getting up every two hours during the night has truly gotten old.

55 and clouds moving off to the east to leave what I expect will be a great sunrise...after a huge storm last night. Should see 72.

Got a nice long hike in yesterday, then gave the screened porch a good cleaning. Buppies, I was just thinking yesterday that the number of stink bugs are way down this year around here...still saw 2 yesterday on the porch screen, but not the numbers of last 2 years.

Good morning all. With rain set to fall steadily all day and wind gusting in the 30's I was looking forward to an easy day inside. That was until the post came with a letter came from accountants reminding me to get the tax info together. If only I was more organised it would already be done and I could spend all day playing in the workshop ... :(
I felt much better when I realised that now my engineering work is ending, that will cut down a lot of paper chasing in future :dance1:

Then realised that because it has run over into a new tax year (our tax year starts on 6th April), I will still have another year of accounts and forms to fill in after this one. :( :( :)

RS, that looks quite a fan ! Is that just for snow, or were you intending to deflect it upwards and have some fun skydiving without having to throw yourself out of a plane? :)

Also, we busted a pinata

Kyle, I was about to commiserate with you over the spilt milk ( ? -see below), then noticed the spelling difference - google tells me busting a pinata is a good thing ! Glad she enjoyed her party, though commiserations due to you instead on having another daughter reach teenage years.

When I was a kid, a "pinta" was how they promoted a glass bottle containing a pint of milk. I looked on you tube for one of the many old commercials and this had to be the one for you Pick up a midday pinta.mov - YouTube

It never worked for me, but I used ratchet straps. In my experience, it just forces the beads more into the center, when they really need to move closer to the rim walls.

I had the same problem, ratchet strap was too wide that’s why I went to the rope method.

Poured first cup of coffee. 48° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 61° with off and on rain. Yesterday was another conserve energy day after filling bird feeders. Missed the debate. Doesn't matter I have filled out my ballot. Need to drop it off yet. Need to do a little shopping this morning. Then some house cleaning. Should be enough for today.

Mostly, not fun when Sassy thinks that she should chase deer at 3 am. She is not allowed outside without shock collar anymore. I used the shock one time while setting it up. I have only had to use beeper a couple of times since then. It is working so well that most of the time all I have to do is say HEY! and she heads to my side. Been a stubborn little dog for training.

LS, fox squirrels have tails as big as Sassy.

RS, you should be able to windrow leaves with that blower.

Drew, BPH is why I have limited my road trips. Seems like any meds I take give me worse side effects than the condition they are trying to care. Diet change has been my friend.

Looking, off road for a 10 to 11 days. Why?

David, looked like concrete to me.

RNG, I have had good luck with the ratchet strap. Need to use small ones. Not the wide yellow ones.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

58 is the low so far, 71 later. Had 1.43” of rain so far. Didn’t watch the debate, I knew they would tell me what was really said anyway, and we two clear undisputed winners, depending on the channel you watched.
Stuff to do, happy birthday to the daughter and all have a good day.

The temp here is 48°F and cloudy. Wind SE 5 mph. 70% chance of T-storms with a forecast high of 55.

Ron, I hate working Saturdays and Sundays but all summer long in aide of the party I work and say nothing...After the contract is finished as it is as of yesterday I almost always drop by the house and take time off. I also strip the truck of most of the summer work clothes and stick in some winter clothes just in case the weather turns sour before I get the chance to take the much needed winter layoff. So you can call me a 'fair weather trucker', but at 74 years of age I think I have earned the right to hibernate in winter. Call it a holiday before my winter holiday (hibernation).
