Backhoe 48 Backhoe what are these for?

I've attached a picture and was wondering what these rebar triangles are for? 1 is broke on mine and I cant figure out why I should care.

Poor drawing at Deere, but they are item#13 in drawing

As others have said, they are steps. I never liked them & took them off. At one time, JD made a much better step that mounted on the cylinders. I did like those.
