70°F and .18 inches rain.

Off to town for Ophthalmologist appointment for Sophie, likely a couple other stops.

Forgot just how time intensive puppy house training could be. Too late. Can’t really complain as he was good from midnight until after 5 this morning.

He does see himself as a lap puppy

A day of remembrance and prayers for souls lost.

Still can’t believe they got away with so changing our lives. And got away with it. Not going political.

Enjoy the day

Poured first cup of coffee. 57 F° with rain this morning. Heading to 63 F° with continued rain. WF says 2" of rain. Did not much done in house yesterday. That's OK I can work on it today.
Different type of picture today. My DS shows his Mustang Shelby. He has a made a bunch of stamped door props for club members. His say Shelby Cobra, I offered to help him making part that goes on the door side of prop. I have made a couple bolts so far. But I thought I would ask here if anyone knows what this stud is called and where to buy them. It is .245" diameter X 1" long, Threaded end is 10-24. Head diameter is .420".

Eric, I tried fly fishing one time. I think the pole and line are still up in a tree some where in northern Canada. That fish would make good bait for perch fishing.

Looking, not sure about napping improving heart health. 78 and have not had a heart attack. I do rest in afternoon. But very seldom fall asleep.

Drew, great sky picture.

LS, talked to my GD yesterday who lives WA. They are having similar skies that she showed me on Facetime. Good picture.

David, tomatoes look good.

Everyone be healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 71F Partly cloudy skies. Expect widespread areas of smoke and haze, reducing visibility at times. High 86F. Winds light and variable.
AQI skyrocketing up to 591 this morning, and it looks like a heavy fog has settled over me, but it's smoke instead. Maybe 200 feet of visibility.

Enjoy the lap time, David. They grow up so fast!

Good luck with the logging, David MFW, and hope he can cut that range for you.

Good luck to you, too, Bruce, with Garmin. In my experience, all they want to do is sell me the latest generation of their junk.

I thought you'd be saying something like "No more brick pointing for me" with your last breath, Eric.:D

Very poignant photo, Drew. Thanks for sharing some of your grandfather's story.

I bet you're happy to be done with that trench, Don. Those roots really gave you a run for your money!

My first house came with a home warranty, the first and only claim I made was denied as a pre-existing condition. The tub on the dishwasher had rusted out, and coverage didn't start until two months after the policy purchase. Of course, that was in the fine print I hadn't yet learned to read.

With David's expert solar energy guidance, I fired up the generator yesterday from the comfort of my office chair. Could have been anywhere in the world that had internet access, and that somehow gives me comfort. Thanks, David!

Spent the day inside, other than a few laps round the house watching for fire. More ash on the ground, and the long range forecast has rain showers in it, so at some point I'll have the RG out to blow it off anything I don't want it sticking to. One of the gals up here makes soap from ash, and warns us all the ash and water combine to make lye. Rather not have paint stripper on the truck, van, or farm implements.

I did get a decent night's sleep, awaking only once in the wee hours to answer Nature's call, then going right back to sleep. Haven't been getting any exercise, but stress sure takes it out of me.

Got a call from a young Russian immigrant motorcycling buddy yesterday afternoon, just checking on me. He asked about the van, and sez he knows a guy with a smog shop that can help with that situation...

PG&E restored grid power here at 3PM yesterday, but they had me guessing all day just when it would be. Three waves of phone calls, emails, and text messages arrived, all predicting a time that was hours early or late compared to the actual time the power came back. Really didn't care, as this three day outage pretty much confirmed I don't need the grid anymore, at least not to take care of basic necessities. The log shows the generator only ran four hours in all that time, and the only things I didn't do were spend time under the shop lights or chew up a lot of energy running a welder or a big machine tool. And those are all things I can schedule for when the sun is shining brightly, or splurge and fire up the generator, even from the iPhone if needed.:D

Think I'll try to get in touch with the o'scope tech today and see if he has any answers for me, other than that, I'm just gonna see what comes up.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Found a link to a new fire map yesterday that seems to have a higher resolution base map underneath it. This morning it's showing much less active fire than yesterday. And with the higher resolution, it looks like the fire is more like 6 miles away, rather than the 2 I'd been thinking it was. So good news on both fronts. But there are still no containment lines between me and the fire unless you count CA70 as containment, and it's just a 2 or 4 lane highway in that area.

Ron, now you know why I put a doggie door in bedroom that goes out to fenced area. So my goal is train him to know to use it (any time he wants). Learning to use the doggie door has been entertaining in the past. Sometimes getting hung up half way, when they truly get it and just go in and out half dozen times like it’s a fun game.

Strange thing, while I don’t have to get up, I’ll guess I do hear the flap most times, often times even knowing which dog used it. Even worse I’ve found myself wondering if they came back in. Oh well, beats getting up.

I read that 10 percent of population of Oregon is under evacuation order....wow.

thunderstorms about to start, watching radar as they head this way

hard to believe, only five days after Verizon turned my internet speed back on they just notified me I had only 10 percent left. Huh? How can
that be in five days for 15gig? No movies watched either, and turned off Mifi when done. Looks like I'm soon back to a crawl.
Can't wait for 200mb speed and no limits...

RNG stay safe

Were you able to sort out the "low flow" from your Fire Truck yet?

I wonder if there is a "recirculate" valve on your pump outlet that sends pump outlet water back to the tank .. if your hose is off? It may be partially open? Do you have a pressure gauge on pump outlet? If the recirculation valve is open you'll have almost no pressure on your gauge. Close the valve till you get the pressure you want.

I'd assume your hand line is 1 1/2"? For that you like to see almost 100 psi.

12/7/1941

Where were you when the world stopped turning?

12/7/1941, Since I was born in 1940, I don't remember much about 1941
11/22/1963, I was working an evening shift in the Dallas Post Office just south of the assassination site. I thought about going in early to watch the parade, but decided not to. A coworker was standing right where I would have been, taking pictures that got him a trip to New York to sell those pictures to one of the magazines. So I was sitting in my apartment when I heard the young lady across the courtyard screaming and crying like she was being killed. I went out to find her standing outside squalling, and when I asked her what was wrong, she sobbed, "President Kennedy has been shot." Maybe the fact that she was a Catholic had something to do with her reaction. I went back in and turned on the TV to listen to the newsmen.
9/11/2001, we were living down in Navarro County and I had taken my wife to the doctor that morning in Corsicana and instead of sitting in a crowed doctor's office waiting room with her, I went back out to the car and had the radio on when they broke in with the news.

No doggie door here. We have animals that can get in house through one. We have wild animal that could make a small meal out of Sassy.
Sassy was born a lap dog. She can lay in my lap all day.

I ordered a pair of bifocal safety glasses from Amazon last weekend, and they came in this week. Wearing them at work for the first time today, and the blurry area at the bottom while walking is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure. I have to admit, though, that the ease of reading small print on a drawing makes it worth the trouble.
