I have to wonder how much business they lose because of their stupid commercials.

When I was in HS a local car dealer ran a radio spot which took the entire 30 seconds to say "At Rowe Ford we belive that nobody should get a bad deal. Nobody."
It was so obnoxious that radio DJs would talk about it... they tried to improve it but finally gave up. My mother said she heard a spot where he started talking, then there was the sound of a gunshot and somebody else said "There, took care of that!"

Yet 40+ years later I still remember it, so it did it's job.

That dog was really demonstrating the new Husqvarna xp chainsaw model, minus the chain. I have yet to see a funnier commercial then the Geico woodchucks.

I stopped watching the tube several years ago, it started with the stupid commercials that I couldn't figure out what they were advertising then the programming followed suit. The kicker was when sports got into politics and that was it. My friends and family all said you might make it till next NFL season but they were wrong. I haven't watched it for over ten years and don't miss it a bit.

It's been a lot longer for that for me; I didn't even realize that many of the pithy phrases which people use came from TV shows. I've never watched Seinfield… or seen the attraction of the show. "Trailer Park Boys", "Jackass", "Bevus and Butthead"... people actually think they're funny?
A few years ago I was in a motel and tried to watch some movie which I'd never seen and is supposed to be a classic... the first 10-15 minutes literally was more commercials than show and you know that it gets worse as you get more into the show.

I still haven't watched that movie.

One of my all time favorites...

I don't know, maybe I'm getting older. Will be watching the late night news in bed with the wife, and a commercial will come on, and when it's over, I'm asking my wife exactly what are they promoting as I'm left scratching my head...

I have to wonder how much they increase their premiums in order to pay for the million$ they spend for commercials. :confused2:

I have wondered that many times.

We only have over the air local channels now and don 't miss the TV mess one bit. We have many hours more free time during the week and have gotten much more accomplished around the farm. Plus, I've probably saved $1600 a year for each of the last five years. That's a whole bunch of implements.

The final straw with the legalese contract presented to us to electronically sign and the pricey demands made on our paying for our (their) rental equipment. Plus added charges for all sorts of things. I'm not signing a six page contract just to watch old westerns. Buh-bye.
