74 going to 87, got a sprinkle walking out at dawn, watching the bats and great blue heron, both lovers of the dark.
Randy, they look like the happiest boys on the planet. Glad you got to see them and get them on your tractor. Hope the coming storm is kind to you.
Rick, you think storms pick the guy with the most grapples to visit? Hope your clean up isn't too bad. Can't believe you sold her Kubota.
Thomas, felt good hitting the sack last night, I bet. I have always gotten a strange pleasure digging ditches...must be the archeologist and geologist hiding in me that loves finding things and seeing layers of earth...and the immediate gratification of seeing my results.
I missed the splashdown, but sounds like I need to find a video.
I feel like I had an RS or RNG day yesterday...filled the day with work. Cleaned up some things and rearranged some in the toolshed and barn, both hot as ovens in the 90s sun. But then spent some seat time in the woods with the tractor doing some trail maintenance. Always amazes me how good it feels sitting on the tractor in the shade when there's a good breeze like yesterday...even with the temps in the 90s.
Decided to roll my generator up and out of the tool shed and give it a test run. My tool shed was built a long time before we moved here, and has a cinderblock foundation with a 2x8 sill, so to get something heavy out, I have to put car ramps on both the inside and outside, and pull it up and over. I had a newly charged LP tank with a cap, but the little mud daubers had found their way into the female end and plugged it anyway...brushed out the mud, but decided to steal the tank from the grill, which was almost empty, and I was planning to cook on it as soon as running the generator.
Got it out a safe distance and hooked up the LP tank. I had been watching the t-storm to the south and the one to the north, and their movement on radar looked like I was in the gap. I could see no rain out to horizon in the west and it was sunny. My notes showed I hadn't run it since Jan 2019

duh

but I got it started and ran inside to get a bottle of water before starting up the grill.
Before I could get back it was pouring so I shut it off and rolled it under the shelter, soaking wet...fortunately the unused gasoline tank on top served as an umbrella. 5 minutes later and .2 of an inch of rain, it was sunny, so dried it off and ran it for 30 minutes, using it to power my shop vac, cleaning my toolshed which really needed it. My "empty" tank ran it the whole time, and so I moved it back to the grill, and cooked dinner, including fresh picked okra, zucchini, and poblano peppers. As I finished cooking, another t-storm hit, and they came in off and on all night with the most lightning I can remember.
Heading to the vet today, and not sure about my dental appointment first thing tomorrow, at the predicted time the tropical storm is supposed to peak here. Routine check up so hope they cancel, but if not, I may. It's a 30 mile roundtrip, and the roads will be likely covered with puddles and limbs.
