Thanks for all the help and recommendations. I've learned a lot thru this.

For followup, my eye irritation was likely caused by something other than welding. I welded yesterday, same location and time. No eye irritation.

I ordered the recommended hood so will now have one that is adjustable. I figure it can't hurt to have a spare and I'll probably use it when I get a plasma cutter and need to cut stuff up.
