L Series HST Recall

/ L Series HST Recall #21
My L3560 was built before they ran out of locktite.
I'm glad but wouldn't have taken it in. Would have done my own maintenance and hoped for the best.
Hit 38hrs today. Negotiated the 50hr in the purchase. Happy I can still take advantage of it.

My 2019 F250 has 3-4 open recalls. Dealer will never see it until it's traded.

****, I just went out to my L6060 and my serial number is recalled. What a massive disappointment. All for a potential loose bolt? If it does take 40 hours for a skilled tech to repair this issue, would it better to just not do anything until there is an actual problem. I can't stomach the thought of dismantling the whole tractor and then reassembling. That will inevitably lead to many other problems as a result of them tearing the tractor in half and trying to piece it back together. My dealer had to swap out my hood when I bought it because there was a small dent on it. This resulted in 3 small issues because they never put the replacement hood on properly. I'm a big believer in "not breaking the factory seal." This violates that in the worst way.

I can't believe this got by the" Passed by Chief Inspector" fella who put that nice red sticker on my tractor.

Yikes! I don't blame you for being concerned. Any experienced mechanic knows about the possible problems created with any job.
And especially so when the mechanic does such a major disassembly. So it concerns everyone - including the mechanic.
I've was a mechanic for years. This is not a happy job.

My first thought is concern for the tractor owners affected, and immediately after that I begin to wonder about how the dealerships and mechanics are going to fare?
Is that 40 hours a real number? If so, it is probably based on an average speed for an an experienced mechanic. Not all dealerships are going to have someone like that with so much extra time available.

I'm guessing that that Kubota is equally aware of the potential pitfalls, and already has a plan to help the owners.
One way to cover the extra risk to the owner would be to offer offer some sort of specialized warranty or mechanical insurance.
Does Kubota insurance cover something like this?

Some dealers may be able to help with trailering expense, or a loaner in instances where the owner needs to have use of a tractor.

Like all us Kubota owners, I'll be watching this recall here on TBN and hoping for the best.
Again, my sympathy to those affected.
So far it seems like Kubota is doing as good as anyone could wish.

Thank you for submitting the list.
It looks like they must have found some locktite to use on my L47. My ser number falls in-between the two runs @ 521xx.
Odd that there is a break in the numbers like that.

My L4760 is next to the last number in the recall. Dealer is kind of dumbfounded by it all and myself, I am a bit pissed.

When was yours delivered? My L6060 was delivered a few weeks ago, but is before the first numbers. I guess there is an upside to one that was on the lot for a while.

No MX6000's. Odd that a run on the 5800's is present.

No MX6000s left the factory with potentially faulty transmissions. The serial number list for L4701s has contracted and now begins with 66690.
Flat rate repair times have not been released but 40 hours is a substantial exaggeration in most, if not all cases depending on how the tractor is equipped and what the nature of the individual failure may be.
The primary reason this recall is comprehensive and not a fix-as-fail campaign is directly related to the potential safety aspects of the failure if it occurs and if the worst case scenario develops.

What is the real danger with safety? What is the worst case scenario?

I checked my L4060 serial number and was very relieved to see it made the cut. Not by much though.

I feel for those effected. It’s got to be a hard pill to swallow.

My 5460 is safe but just by a few units. I feel for those affected by this. How Kubota handles this will say a lot.

Actually, it speaks volumes.
This is my 4th Kubota tractor in 20 years of ownership. BX25, B2650, L3540 and the current L4060.

Received the letter, called dealer, they had no idea of recall (1st example of bad process).
Three days later dealer talked to area service advisor, he had no idea of recall (2nd example)
Five days later, dealer now aware of recall, waiting on parts availability and time required to perform. No idea at this point

So, I have a 4 week old tractor with 7.3 hours on it. I understand the cab has to come off, unit gets split in half for repair and reassembled. To say I'm displeased is an understatement.

I called Kubota in OH to speak with customer service. Talked to the nastiest person, she missed her calling, she would fit right in working at the Division of Motor Vehicles in NJ.

Seriously, I'm at a loss for words here. I know it's not my dealers fault, they are trying to help, but I don't really want a 7 hour old tractor going in for major surgery. I asked them my options, they said I really don't have any. Kubota won't replace the tractor. They will repair.

So disappointed

Luck of the draw.
I actually called twice.
The first person I spoke to was a little abrupt and I ended up on hold for 15 min.
I hung up and called back. This time I got a young lady that couldn't be nicer.

I think they are swamped with calls.

Uh.... 7.3 hours to a complete tractor split!? I think I would simply return it and say, "no thanks". There should be no problem with that.

I was a bit concerned for an hour or so yesterday. I sat down for a snack before heading to our remote property and was browsing TBN when I saw this thread. During my 45 minute drive to the property, I kept thinking I don’t want an almost $50,000 tractor with 48 hours that has been almost entirely disassembled and put back together. To make matters worse, I kept thinking about the dealer telling they had trouble keeping good mechanics when I bought the tractor. The other thing that came to mind was that I just (last Saturday) sold my Mahindra because I decided I didn’t need it anymore.

I am very thankful my tractor appears good to go for Spring work but feel for those who have to deal with this.

The tractor has 7.3 hours on it since new. The repair is something like 40 hours of warranty labor. Dealer is still trying to get information from Kubota as to exactly what they need to do.

How can a company be so dysfunctional that they send letters to customers to discontinue use immediately without letting the dealers know the fix. Again, dealer is trying to help, they simply don't know what fix is or parts availability. Their regional lead is in the dark as well.

Complain long and loudly. As a long time Kubota customer, buying a new tractor only to have it split under warranty work is unacceptable to me too.

I hope for the best to all under this issue. Customers and dealers. Kubota needs to make this really right.

****, I just got the letter today.

I bought a new premium tractor so I wouldn't have problems and now this. $65,000 for a new tractor and after I take it in for this fix, I get a rebuilt / refurbished one back. This is wrong.

If the factory that builds tractors all day long can't get the assembly done properly how in **** can I trust a mechanic that may have never split one of these to do it right. So far the dealer tore the inner fender liner when they put the air ride seat in and had to replace the liner. Then they came out to fix a leaking connection for the dealer installed third function and it's leaking again. I am very pissed about this.

I'm having a run of bad luck with new or almost new stuff. First I buy a Massey cabbed tractor with 185 hrs on it. I ended up trading it in after $4500 worth of repairs was done to it and it still wasn't running right. Then I buy a new inverted snow blower for $6300 and it self destructs in the first 100 feet of operation and now Kubota wants to tear my new tractor apart to check for a loose bolt. WTF

SAD, Some worker don't care and just do a crappy job and we pay for it .....
