Good morning to all! Low went to 32, going up to 64 (probably higher as the trend continues), sunny.

Ron, beautiful pic of the duck! I know we will not get any ducks or cranes stopping by our new pond, but I am sure the local birds will enjoy it!

Drew, nice pictures, but I am sure they do not give your place the full view. Hope you are able to get the sale soon. As mentioned before, you have a magnificent place!

Kyle, if I am reading your question correctly, I paid $32 / ton for the boulders. That small pile was 1.3 tons. Hopefully enough to do what we have in mind.

I had a hard time logging in here last night, had to try a few times over about 15 minutes, but no problems since.

I tried Walmart groceries again, no slots available thru Sunday.

Still windy, had another rain blow thru.

Sister still the same.

I ordered about $200 of groceries yesterday morning for a Sunday afternoon slot. They are not even showing many items such as TP, and many others that do show up are on sold out.

I've only sold two homes, Drew, but they've both been empty when they went on the market. That meant carrying two house payments for a while, but even in the depths of the 2010 recession, both sold quickly and for more than the asking price. I did it that way mainly for privacy concerns, but also because my housekeeping is not the best, either.:laughing: Good luck with your sale; your timing is good in that families are looking to buy now so they can complete their move before the next school year starts.

Nice pile of rocks there, Ted. Can't wait to see what you come up with. And I hope Mr. Knee doesn't get too upset with your efforts!

Yesterday morning didn't exactly go according to plan. I'd just popped the oatmeal into the microwave when the phone rang and the propane guy was at the gate wanting in. So I left the microwave running, and didn't get back to it until almost noon.


Nearly three hours later, they had a tank truck on site and the new tank was being filled, almost 900 gallons worth.


Back to not going according to plan, as soon as the crane operator began lifting, the tank slid off to the low side of the deck and the crane pivoted of its own accord to follow. The operator let out enough slack to ground one end while both he and his helper jumped on the high side of the truck in a hysterical effort to keep it from rolling over. I didn't have my camera set to video yet, and stood there watching the whole thing unfold in slow motion, not quite believing what I was seeing.


But the two of them regrouped, got both ends of the tank back on the ground without killing anyone or damaging more than a little paint, and soon got the thing up onto the foundations. I was more than a little concerned that they left one end hanging in the air while one of them got under the tank to install the wet tap, but they seem to do it all the time and have so far been lucky.

Anyway, the house is now back on a real tank, having gone through nearly 4 of the 5 gallon picnic bottles since the old tank was taken away. And they'll be back once I get the generator set in place, probably in three weeks once the concrete pad for it has had time to cure.

A quick run into Home Depot got another load of cement, and I finished up the day moving the form board and tying in the last of the rebar. Looking forward to iterating toward the right mix with the slump cone, and even more to finishing the pour today.

Was 42 I went out to pickup sticks from the wind beating the snot out of the trees yesterday, last night and today. Should stay in the mid 50s, and mostly sunny. Too windy to do what I planned.

Did get the tractor and FEL lubed. I must be the slowest lube-r in the country...took the better part of 4 hours for only 27 zerks, if I remember correctly. I did a lot of cleaning of old dried lube, and had to change out a tube, which often makes a mess for me. Next I need to order an oil filter. I think I'll try Messick's, like I think you did, RNG. I usually try to support the local dealer, but not worth a trip to town, and a visit inside of a store for just one thing. Plus, I'm still sorta sore at them for charging me freight on the mower blades last month without telling me.

From the local news, northern part of T-County got the end of the tornado that skipped across NE Ohio Wednesday night. Lots of trees and power lines down. Some houses with roofs completely gone. No injuries locally.

Within the county, confirmed COVID cases have inched up to 25 with 0 deaths. Other local counties are still low numbers, other than Stark to the north.

Internet is sort of working and limps along. Talked to a manger yesterday finally and allegedly got things escalated. But no tech available until Monday. I may poke around some state agencies and see where I can file a complaint. CT attorney general is pursuing legal action against this company for poor service, poor billing practices, and poor support.

I was still living in Columbus when Xenia got wiped out, and remember going outside to look at the monster T- storms, hoping not to see any funnels. Never did, and hope it stays that way for you, too, Rich!

Still only 13 CoVid cases county wide here, but another was just confirmed yesterday that hasn't been added to the official count yet. No deaths, but still no wide spread testing, so nobody really knows how many have been infected with mild cases.

Your internet experience sounds like what Frontier was doing, and still may be doing, to its customers. They refuse to upgrade their failing copper based infrastructure, instead overworking their repair crews to keep the old stuff shambling along. I understand the big players are once again offering unlimited cellular plans, but that their definition of unlimited means no data caps, but with reduced speed once a certain level of data consumption is reached. Since the shelter in place orders were issued, this satellite connection is almost unusable, with long delays in fetching even static pages, and thirty seconds of buffering for every five seconds of video. I say this just so you know that it could always be worse...:smiley_aafz:

A mostly cloudy 32ºF with a mix of almost measurable snow and graupel falling/on the ground. An interesting morning weather-wise with more periods of sun than anticipated. Looking upstream it looks to be a mix of sun and periods of snow changing over to rain this PM and temperatures reaching into the high 30ºF’s or hopefully higher. A good day for the curbside booze run.

Yesterday’s wind + falling temperatures necessitated some fine tuning of the air/smoke flow and it took a little longer, but it came out great. For 2 people there will be plenty of leftover meals.

Our biggest challenge so far food-wise is maintaining a decent supply of fresh produce. We live 23 miles from any supermarkets doing curbside pickup and every single store had a wait time of 2 weeks for fulfilling our order with no guarantees about product availability. One site tried to place our order in NYS. I am not looking forward to my next pharmacy run at the supermarket we frequent. I am actually considering alternating days with the one in shortest supply.

Newbury- Sheet composting is just an excuse to throw the kitchen compost in the garden area rather than walk another 25’ to the compost pile. I think the term originated in the J. I. Rodale’s How to Grow Vegetables and Fruits by the Organic Method (10th Printing, 1974). That old tome, is our gardening bible. Spring melt reveals what fruits and veggies that we were eating all Winter. Not exactly pretty looking, but it is an incentive to till the garden as soon as it dries out enough.

RonJY- I love your photogenic duck. I had +50 goldfinches in various degrees of molt roosting in our pear tree this AM in the snow. The tree looked like a Christmas tree all lit up.

Ken- The hail we received here was not quite pea sized.

RNG- I bet there were a couple of “pucker” moments for all involved with that tank placement. I am glad it got properly placed on its foundation.

Your MF probably has a 3-point adjustment knob, at the bottom, front of your seat. Try adjusting it for different weights on your 3-point.

It does and I’ve slowed it some, just haven’t adjusted to something that light.

Yep, that knob can make a world of difference Randy. But remember .. if you screw it in too far, it can actually stop your 3-point from lowering at all.

Well RNG.....sounds like you have dealt with the same provider. Except where I live, it is all fairly new (less than 3 years) fiber optic. The problem isn稚 the lines, it it is usually equipment/software issues at the routers or whatever they call them.

This area got fiber optic since there are some significant dairy operations nearby and the largest 鍍eaching hospital for OSU Vet school are close by. Guess who gets priority for repair.

Had satellite, hate to go back, but may have to due to the constant issues.

For whatever reason, it has been working pretty good this morning. Even have the work stuff running off of it. Starting to wonder if they pushed out a software update this morning.
