Thanks, my grandfather was an avid hunter and gun collector, I was his first grandson so I think he was just anxious for someone to shoot with.

I'm pretty sure he enjoyed your time together more than you did!!!! My Dad spent a lot of time with all three of my Sons hunting and fishing. He loved it and so did they.

Sorry your Dad didn't teach you at an early age.

Didn't teach me what?...I never went a day without learning something from my dad up until the day he died when I was 13...including to have a sense of humor...!

JFYI...My dad was 'Defender of Bataan and Corregidor'...until captured with native gorillas...he survived the death march and was sent to Japan as POW labor for 3 years...The aftermath of diseases like malaria and beri beri led to his early demise...in the short time that I had him he taught me a lot things...things like being able to see through shallow people and realize their true character...and some simpler things like using the oil along side my nose to lube the ferules on a multi-piece fly rod etc...he taught me a lot of things...

So then why would you make fun of posters talking about experiences with their Dad's?? Why exactly would you do that?? You of all people should value those shared experiences. Not ridicule them.

You need to knock that enormous chip off your shoulder...FYI I was not making fun of anyone geeze...!

'Bird's' comment reminded me of the line I posted it was just a "one liner" it was not directed or meant to be derogatory in any way...

get rid of that chip...just like the other day when you thought my post about avatars was directed at you WHICH IT WAS NOT...!
Your post merely reminded me of a pet peeve I had been meaning to mention before the peeve thread got dusted...! and FYI I thought creating new avatars was something people could do while they were waiting out the storm...

So get rid of the chip and quit thinking that every post that follows one of your own is necessarily directed at you...

If I have something to say directly to someone I make it clear whom I'm addressing...otherwise it's a generalized opinion...so get rid of the chip and quit reading way more into things that don't exist...

In the middle of your description of your Dad, whom I consider a hero, you slandered me. Right in the middle of it. Why do you do that?

I consider you a very intelligent man. I read your posts with that in mind. Then you derail and start being condescending. That's why I consider you naïve. Very intelligent. Very naïve considering the person you are talking to.

I don't carry a chip. I defend when needed. And never before needed. You an I both know who you were talking about and to. I know you can't help it. Again, how about a truce? I won't call you naïve, you won't talk insult me and be condescending. How about it?

It's only because you have that enormous chip on your shoulder that you think I slandered [sic] you...you are the one that did not define in your query what it was that my father did not teach me...I merely cited a dichotomy of things he did teach me...
Take a step back and look at how may dust ups you get into...it seems like a majority of the threads that drift you always seem to get into it with someone for the exact same reasons...you ASSUME way too much...!

Since you are still talking down to me, I assume no truce?

Anyone able to go in and buy a couple rolls?

Just wondering if supply chain affected coast to coast!

I believe that I could find some if needed. I'm all set until (at least) June though, so don't really look at the paper section. I did notice this week that the paper plate shelves are almost wiped out; are people afraid that they won't be able to go on picnics this summer? (More likely the delivery trucks are dedicating space to necessities such as toilet paper and canned goods.)

Nope, me either . . . I was at my only one large grocery store in my area today and none . . . although they did have little Kleenex available . . . Richard don't let that person get to you, you defended them, that was your career . . . OK? We have (vets) had enough of this.

Here in Ohio, I have yet to see a roll of TP in our local grocery store since this started. Fortunately, I also don't need to buy any. Other than that, the store looked pretty normal. There was a lot of empty shelf space a week ago.

I put ovrszd on ignore, I highly recommend it. I think ovrszd is an okay person, he just flys in, drops a load and flys away to borrow an other members description of him. I wish responses to ignored members were also ignored, but it certainly helps. Again, he is not a bad person, just a good candidate to be on an ignore list IMHO.

As a kid this friend of Grandad explained how to use just one square! First fold it as shown, tearing the center corner off.
Then put your finger thorough hole. Now you can clean finger off when finished .View attachment 647247View attachment 647248

That's just wasteful. We were shown to do that with a tram ticket. About 1 third thew size of a piece of TP

We did custom hay work for neighbors. Bale it, haul it, stack it in their barn.

Several times I saw neighbors make fools of themselves concerning me running a tractor pulling baler and wagon. Every one of them complimented my Dad for his teaching. Complimenting me for my talent.

A grown man, farm owner shaking my hand and complimenting me at the age of seven.

Anyone do that to you at that age Bird?

Nope, we didn't get a tractor until I was 10. That was when my Dad bought a 10 year old John Deere L and I did a lot of work just to get to drive the tractor.

My father had an "L" for a while, back when he was buying older tractors. It was a pain to get on, IIRC you had to climb up over the back of the seat to get on it. He was in his '70s and sold it for that reason.
His would have been a good parade tractor with a little cosmetic work.

Stores around here all seem to have some toilet paper on the shelves, just not much of a brand selection. One might have Charmin, the next store will have some other brand.

Kroger and WalMart are still low on canned vegetables for some reason, Spam is non existent, yet tuna can be found at all the stores.
