From all the charts, links, and comments I see a light at the end of a tunnel. That tunnel is long, and our pace through it seems glacial. One item of preparedness I've always held to is to be able to calm myself and wait out things I can't do anything about.

The most 99% of us can do is self isolate, and for a time we can expect that to be for 14 days+ from any contagion or symptom. Those among us who have work/income interruptions may be hit harder as any who contract the disease.

Now we're waiting for the government to send whatever assistance comes along I'll be searching for someone to pass it along to. I'm far from needing aid of any kind and don't expect much, but most of my friends, neighbors, and acquaintances are working and have families. I have more than time to share to make lives better around me. Bet I'm not the only one who's thought of this. I know you guys too well.

We'll get through this nightmare but it'll take time. :) Make good use of yours as always, I hope you'll make the wait seem shorter.

While I'm waiting for the government to send me whatever assistance comes along I'll be searching for whomever I know to pass it along to. That tunnel is still on a steep incline.

IMO...It's kind of ludicrous to hold press conferences with everyone sitting six feet apart if someone is speaking...the six feet is fine if people are keeping their mouths shut...but air currents (even indoors) can carry pathogens easily over six feet...
Speaking propels the micro droplets much farther than normal breathing...

Administration ignored 69 page playbook on how to handle pandemic.

Trump team failed to follow NSC’s pandemic playbook - POLITICO
Interesting, but since the virus didn't hit our shores until about 7 weeks ago, how much can be done. Most of what is outlined in the article would require 20/20 foresight, and nobody short of God has that. With a sudden pandemic everybody is going to be behind the curve. The real question is how far behind the curve are we?
The first case showed up in Everett WA about the 3rd week of January and it didn't seem to be spreading in the state until a few weeks later when it hit the Kirkland nursing home. There were 69 cases in the US as of February 29 and the WHO didn't declare it a pandemic until March 11. Until about four weeks ago it appeared to be a mostly Asian problem. Governments by nature are slow in reacting, just how much can be done in a few short weeks, with governments, not much.

I believe a major factor may be a typical American attitude of "Bad s__ happens to other people," and "That'll never happen to me," as if we're on TV or in a movie and even with troubles along the way there's always a happy ending. We flaunt rules and tell ourselves that bad news won't reach our enclaves. IMO panic can be just a clash of complacency and a threat scarier than zombies because we don't have 'ammo'.

I suppose if there are meek that inherit they will be ones that knew how & when not to 'party on'. (A metaphor for Sodom and Gomorrah, die for ur sins?) To think of college kids passing bottles and making out at a time like this is utterly horrifying. If I get the disease that's one person to lose, but breakers and Mardi Gras goers make me weep for the wisdom of our culture.

We don't know why there are press conferences lately. I wonder which Prez(s) would have had a video 'fireside chat' for us from the oval office vs a public 'rally'. I doubt if many Journalists are self-isolating lately and I wouldn't want to be one this year. Sorry to go OT.

Don't forget the "challenge" folks. Or the Mayor of Florence Italy. Now that is some "good thinking" right there.
