Just an update...

Pulled into the drive and we talked for 10 minutes while my fiancé and I sat in the truck. Never entered the house. My neighbor reported that panic buying has hit our little slice of heaven. Walmart shelves are near empty. It seems the Governors "shutdown" announcement today triggered the panic.

We were thinking of picking up more things this week but that was before the panic hit. Most of the "excitement" should pass in a couple of weeks as this becomes the "new normal", and by then stores will have time to get re-supplied. We do not lack for any items so no urgency to restock our preps.

We have an advantage in being remote, as it significantly lowers our contact/exposure risks. The downside is lack of medical facilities. It will not take long to overwhelm our infrastructure.

Hard to fathom that less than two weeks ago we were in pissing matches as to whether "this is just a flu". On another forum I frequent (shooting), there are still many think this is a conspiracy to take away our rights. Nearly got banned there so keeping a low profile.

Love the posts some of you have shared about acts of kindness. We need more of that and less sniping at each other IMHO

I just placed an Amazon order and many supplements used to treat malaria were OUT of stock but then that comes out of China. When I looked at my confirmation email it was broken up into 8 shipments with different shipping dates due to being out of stock at this moment. It will be interesting how many will turn into cancellations at some point. I new I should have ordered earlier. I did get in my main order last week and it all came in one box from the same warehouse so I guess like Walmart others have been getting stock for the 6-18 month siege from Amazon as well.

I am surprised that some of the members are not now taking Hydroxychloroquine for artyrightus. I have been on 400mgs for years. Is that like Kryptonite to covid 19?

Something I never thought about... just got a wedding invitation for my cousins son up in Pennsylvania in June. He's going for his master degree out west and his fiancé is going to school out there as well.

What the heck do you do if you're planning a wedding in the next couple of months? I'm lucky, my wife and I only had about 70 or so people and (we even didn't need to have a wedding but my father would of prefered one and so did her parents), relatively small and cheap, but man, some women really get into BIG weddings.

Friend just cancelled their wedding. Lady from work got married Saturday and streamed it on Facebook.

Ya sure locknut? I guess it does not hurt unless you take too much of it . . . :confused3:

We've had zero scam calls since March 19. Normally get around 5 of those a day. Perhaps the scammers have shutdown their call centers due to Covid-19? :confused3:

If there’s one place that needs to get it.....

I am thinking a lot will change long term after people use video streaming and working from home for a few weeks or months. This virus is changing the world like nothing before as in pushing out new ways to use technology that has developed over the past 25-30 years.

"But, if everyone else wears one, YOU will be protected."

I agree that if EVERYONE wore masks, we would bend the curve and be much safer. Problem is, where are the masks?

They're being hoarded ... by those who don't need them.

I've gotten 3 junk calls today, maybe more when I wasn't paying attention. The landline phone is set silent but it lights up and shows the caller's number and name. So far all calls had various cities as caller names. Those calls are 100% bogus.

This has to be random calling. I don't need a car warranty when the newest car was bought in 2004. Don't need my credit card terms modified or whatever that call says after I cut them off. Calls from Microsoft Windows might be fun to play with until I refuse to provide a credit card.

They're still out there.

In contrast to the landline number, my cell phone gets less than one spam call a week. Sonic (ISP) does a good job of preventing those.

probably some of them working from home. All they need is a phone. :) But I bet the big call centers with the predictive dialers are shuttered.

There are some very wise people on here if all work together we as a country can come out this

I agree completely. WE do need to work together. We are all in the same boat.

Guys,

Appreciate your concerns. Just a bit of background.

I live in a very remote part of the state. 3 houses on the 2.5 mile road to my place and I am I surrounded by 1000's of acres of state land. My neighbor is not far from my mailbox...which is 2.5 miles away. This neighbor has been taking precautions (as we have). He is worried as well and being careful. If there are other cars at the neighbors we had already decided not to go in.

Closest town is Johannesburg...12 miles away. It has a population density of 14 people per square mile. No cases in our county (10k) and 1 case in the next county from a man at our church who had returned from a mission to Ethiopia...none of the others on the mission tested positive.

Like I said, we are remote. I know that it only takes one contact to screw things up so we will be careful.

I cannot imagine living without any other human interaction for another 3-4 weeks....maybe longer????? TBN is a great outlet but not the same as a friend.

I am by nature a loner, as is my wife. When I am on the road working I have to deal with people ad nauseam; being home with just her and the dogs is heaven... :cloud9:

Doesn't "floating in the air for hours" kinda make a six feet distance between people seem like not enough??

We have to question the validity of that "six feet distance" everybody is quoting. If somebody with the virus is outside and sneezes what would prevent the virus from going miles?!
