Steel composition for a box spreader part?

Ok, rookie mistake--I overloaded my New Holland 330 box spreader. I ended up bending a part in the drive and have had no luck finding a replacement (see photo). A welder/blacksmith friend of mine thinks he can heat it, bend it back, and weld the tear. But he would like to know something about the steel composition for heat treating it. I've not been able to find anyone at New Holland who can answer this, so I'm hoping someone here might have a guess. Thanks!

It's cast ductile steel. It's bendable (heated) and weldable too. I had to 'fix' a part on my NH 575 square baler last year but I brazed mine with nickle-bronze brazing rod. Still, just fine.

Thanks 5030. Is it same as ductile iron? which from reading I gather is pig iron with graphite nodules. Have you had to heat to for bending and then heat treat?

Heat (dull red) and bend then air cool. Like I said I used brazing rod and the gas axe but I suspect you could use low hydrogen stick too. I brazed it to eliminate any induced heat stress in the part. Just fine in my application on the knotter stack.
