I have been adding insulation to my basement concrete walls, by attaching foam panels to the concrete with Liquid Nails.
All went well, and the insulation is REALLY attached to the concrete,,

Well, yesterday, I decided one wall needed more insulation thickness,,
so I "Liquid Nailed" a second thickness (2") of the EPS foam board to the first,,

Well, the Liquid Nails never "cured" over night, the adhesive was still as liquid as it came out of the tube.
I read the tube, the instructions state that one of the materials must be porous,,like wood. concrete,, etc,,,,
In this case, both materials were foam board, so neither was porous,,,

I know I have to be careful to make sure the adhesive I select must be rated for foam board, so that the adhesive does not melt the foam board.

Do you have any recommendations as to what the correct adhesive might be for this non-porous to non-porous bonding application??
There is only about a hundred different tubes of "stuff" to select from when I go into Lowes,,,:confused2:

That Lepage PL adhesive is pretty impressive stuff. Dropped a dime sized blob onto my concrete apron, and later had difficulty kicking it off with my boot!

Use the glue that's recommended for foam panels. It will say right on the tube.

I agree. You have to read the labels to see what it will work on. I'm surprised liquid nails didn't work.

I actually asked for and have a tube of adheive for foam. Never used it.

Lepages PL 300 "Foam" board.

"Won't burn through foam".

Can't say if it's any good. If it's as good as the regular PL it should be good.

If that doesnt work plain old contact cement, just make sure it's were you want it because you don't get a second chance.

I have used this stuff on many things. It hasn't failed me yet

Lexel(R) by Sashco

From Lexel's website;

Where not to use:

On polystyrene insulation
Where temperatures exceed 200°F
In containment applications
Will not adhere to or is incompatible with Aquaseal®, Kynar®, polypropylene, polystyrene foam insulation, polyethylene, rubber, silicone, Styrofoam® (it dissolves it), Teflon®, vulcanized rubber, and waxes

Well, it turns out, that sometime in the past year, I had purchased a tube of "Gorilla Construction Adhesive",, and had not used it.

The Liquid Nails product, that would not cure, is a "latex" which allows water cleanup while still uncured.

The Gorilla Adhesive required alcohol cleanup, so, at least the product is different.
The Gorilla label said it was for foam board, and both surfaces could be non-porous,,

So, I tried the Gorilla Construction Adhesive,, SUCCESS!! I then purchased several tubes of that,, all is going well now,,,

According to the label, when both surfaces are non-porous, cure time is about double,,
I put up the foam board with the adhesive, and a day later, all was attached.

I am now attaching 3/8" bead board (kinda like T1-11 with smaller, closer, grooves)
The bead board is going up fine, except, slow,,

Slow is OK, I am in no rush, the last few sheets should go up today,,

Next, I gotta decide if I should stain, or paint the bead board,,, I would like to do a white, except a white stain is not too common,,,??

Can I stain the bead board some sort of white, or light color, and allow the wood grain to still show?

I think that is what they call a milk wash paint now days.

Primer will give you a whitewash look that is similar to stain. I would test it before doing the walls and wait at least a day. It will look a lot different 24 hours after you apply it.
