TESLA Electric Truck?

I'm not sure what you have against the Avalanche. I wouldn't own one because it wouldn't suit my needs; yet it was good choice for some. (many, apparently, with over 1/2 million sold).

I have a friend who is a real gear head and he calls the Avalanche " That bi-sexual Chevy" It doesn't know if its a SUV or pickup.

I've always thought that it was a "Wannabe Ridgeline", but that's just one man's opinion. :D It's not something I would want yet they still sold over a half million units...

Here's a thought! (My brainstorm?!?!?)...
The more EVs there will be over time, everyone's electric rates will go up. It will have to at some point.
I was joking about the 1950s electric bumper cars. But they worked, no battery. The floor was metal as well as ceiling, so a contact between them ran the motor. I remember the ozone smell to this day.
Trolleys and pantograph trains work by overhead wires, they're on rails so even contact.
But...there is inductive charging. There's a unit for your phone. No connection, place phone on it and it charges by induction.
So why not wire coils underneath asphalt on major highways? An EV would get charged by driving along. Talk about a long range...even for tractor trailers or towing a trailer.

What do you think about this system?

And that's a problem. Around here most apartments don't even have a place a charging station r outlet could be set up. Even townhouses and condos with a car port don't have outlets in them to keep people from working on their vehicles. I don't see many landlords upgrading their apartments without funding from the state. For those who do have a garage most don't have 240v in them. Then you have the class of people who think of their garage as a storage shed. Their cars haven't spent a day inside it in decades. Certainly things will get better but to get the bulk of people to bite it can't come with added upfront costs and an impact to how they live their lives.

Renters at work with electric meter billed to them get $750 to install 240v to charge their electric cars...

It tends to cost a little more... at least the receptionist said she paid $900 before the credit and she drives on all electric with her Volt.

The Tax Credit, Single Occupancy Car Pool Lane and for some time no Bridge Toll with the charging station $750 makes her a happy camper... she has not used her gas card this year which is a potential problem... Volt owners with stale fuel in the tank... some have gone a year or more without buying gasoline.

I think the Avalanche is beyond ugly. Maybe because it is basically a bastardized pickup.

Just watched an hour long documentary about Tesla (Motors). That is an impressive company, on so many levels.

What is really 'impressive' is Musk's ability to secure taxpayer funding to float his boat. He's really good at it.

I refer to the Avalanche as a 'mudslide' Kind of like the Explorer Sport Trak (discontinued) like the Chevy. Soccer mom wannabe truck. Now the automakers make a 4 door (crew cab) light duty truck with a useless bed.

Hey even geniuses like Musk have imperfections but look at the high end moochers born in the USA and perhaps other places that have taken and taken and given nothing in return except more debt burden on the kids. I think Africa should be proud of him going out into the world and changing the world of the auto and space industries. We had Henry Ford, Sam Walton and Bill Gates to move us forward by getting the support of the world behind them. Now we have the Elon Musk generation coming alone and bringing world wide change and a new level of hope to the kids of the world.

I understand not all have yet grasped the paradigm shifts in the worlds of auto and space thanks to the driving forces of Musk and others like him. Few dream dreams of a better future for people and the few that do often struggle to sell the masses on their dreams and get them to buy in like Elon Musk is doing today.
