A good pic or two of how it appears loose will help for comments.

I had welded strap to the loader where it is worn this area to tighten it up. I could take pictures of you like.

I have a 790 with a 419 (?) loader and there is a retrofit kit of steel spacers that tightens up the loader. Not sure if this is your specific issue but worth a look.

So far, we haven't seen "how much" wear there is..
After that many hours, by 430 FEL on the 4300 is "loose" and not tight, but not so loose that it will come off. Am not worried about it.
edit: The 300 FEL is not like the 430 FEL in the connection to the mounting frames. Round vs Square...
Can you show us how loose yours is.. ?

It was a factory bulletin and dealer should be aware of it or it must be searchable online. There is a part you can order from parts that takes up slack I presume the same slack you are speaking of.

I had thought about trying to make a shim out of thin sheet metal,,I had also thought about a thin piece of plastic like a gallon oil jug just to stop the metal on metal movement,,I think i will also check with a JD dealer and see if they have a fix

The 300 (and 300x/300cx/h160/h165) mounts completely different than the older 419/420/430 loaders, no shim kits are used on the 300 but you must adjust the "Parking Latch Cap Screw Adjustment".

In the online manual, under the Every 50 hours section, look for this "Checking Parking Latch Cap Screw Adjustment"

OMW54458

No if the loader was operated extensively "loose", then the mounts may worn.

This has been discussed often on TBN, see if this search link works.

I know exactly what you're talking about. My 3005 is a rebadged 790, with 300 loader also. The mounts seem to have worn, and dispite keeping the adjusting jackbolts tight from day one, it has worn enough that I've lost an inch or so of down travel, at the lowest position. (If you look at the geometry of it, the more they wear, the more the adjusting bolts tighten up, the higher the loader sits at bottom travel)
I have yet to try adding shims to the pockets at the bottom of the loader masts, so I have no idea how thick they would need to be.

For maybe $35 the dealers sell a kit to fix the problem.

Part number? Link?
I've never seen a kit for the 300 series loaders. There was one for the old 4-series (410, 420, 430, 460) that mounted on a square tube, but these are totally different.

Oops, you are right. I have a 420 loader. Sorry.
